Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home

National Cat Day

National Cat Day brought many smiles from our residents as one of our Senior Carers brought her much loved cat ‘Jasper’ in for a visit.  Jasper did a tour of the building visiting residents in their room for a little fuss, everyone loves Jasper!

Owl Awareness Day

It was Owl Awareness Day at Mulberry Court and what fun our residents had in our arts and crafts sessions making hanging owls from paper plates.  Afterwards we watched a fascinating documentary on these beautiful creatures.

Home recognise long service

A chef at Mulberry Court Care Home in York has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10 years.

Kath Speed, now third chef, started at Barchester in August 2012 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Flower power

This session is always the most popular as flowers always cheer us up!  We chose burnt oranges, yellows and reds to create some stunning posies of flowers.

Art class

A lovely afternoon of sketching and painting at Mulberry Court as our residents grow in confidence to give it a go!  Every week our budding artists just get better and better and brings the class closer as residents not only produce some lovely painting but more importantly gain very special friendships.

Opera performance

Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre.  Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.
