Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home
The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Zoe Giles
Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however I started doing more and more activities with the resident’s there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.
I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!
I am so lucky to be able to say I love my job, no two days are ever the same, although every day is so rewarding and to know I have made a difference to someone is the greatest feeling whether that’s through a group activity or an individual room visit to even stopping and saying a few words to them.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mulberry Court Care Home

Macmillan Coffee Morning
This morning here at Mulberry court care home we held our coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan cancer a group came together in our café bar area to enjoy the tasty treats on offer as well as enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. So far we have raised more than £50 through residents and their families very kind donations, we are hoping for a few more pounds from the cakes in the staff room today!

Birds of Prey
It's was a busy afternoon here at Mulberry Court when we enjoyed a a visit from the local ‘Birds of Prey’ centre based in Huby near York. So many residents wanted to see these fantastic birds that we decided to take advantage of the glorious late summer sunshine and experience the encounters in our award winning garden.
Everyone who wanted to hold the birds had a turn, several people asked questions as well as listening to the team talk to us about each bird as they were passed around and said how much they'd enjoyed the encounter.

Resident realises dream
Resident, Gerry realises dream as he attends his grandson’s wedding. Gerry expressed a wish to attend the traditional church service as part of the bride and grooms multi-cultural wedding celebrations lasting several days as his faith is hugely important to him..
With lots of planning and preparation we were only too delighted to help Gerry make this happen! Gerry was delighted to see family and friends in attendance, some of whom he hadn’t seen for several years.
Gerry was extremely grateful to everyone at Mulberry Court for their help in getting him to the wedding especially to Donna who looked stunning in traditional dress especially for the occasion.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary
A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!
Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.
Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.

Mother of the bride
Wedding bells were the order of the day here at Mulberry Court care home on Friday 6th September as one of our lovely resident’s Ann became mother of the bride!! Unfortunately Ann could not attend in person however we still wanted to mark the occasion and make it as memorable as possible for her, so a special afternoon tea with bucks fizz was laid out for both Ann and her guest to enjoy while watching the live stream of the wedding in the privacy and quiet of her room.

Diggin Den Visits
This afternoon we welcomed the animals and their owners from Diggin Den to our home, the weather held so we all made our way out into our beautiful garden, where not only resident’s but their family and friends gathered too to be entertained by all the rabbits and guinea pigs.
It was lovely to see the contentment on everyone’s faces as the animals interacted with residents and their calming ways
Animals have such a positive therapeutic influence and are excellent for promoting positive mental health and well-being, we look forward to welcoming them back at some point in the future.
