Activities at Newington Court Care Home

Our Activities Coordinator here at Newington Court constantly strives to mentally and physically stimulate those we support in our home. We have our own minibus enabling residents to go shopping, to the local garden centre, out for fish and chips, and for boat trips in the summer. We also have regular visits from the PAT dog, musicians and entertainers. We hold cheese and wine evenings for residents and their families and our residents attend services at the local school for Remembrance Day and Christmas. The junior school also come in and sing for our residents at Christmas. The residents also attended a Christmas Party held at a local Grammar School hosted by the students.

Life at Newington Court Care Home

The Magic Table

Our residents have loved testing our new technology. Kathleen and June particularly enjoyed their air hockey tournament.

We received our Magic Table 360 at the end of February and have had lots of afternoon sessions testing all the fun activities and games. Our favourites so far have been the bubble popping game and autumn Leaves, both of which have such realistic sound effects to help keep our residents engaged, as well as being able to use props such as brooms and blankets to engage with each game.

Art Class

We had a busy morning at Newington Court: first, some of our residents enjoyed time making flower arrangements for the lounges, which was followed by an art class drawing their arrangements.

Board Games Morning

Pamela and Lois enjoyed morning of traditional boards games. At morning coffee time, you can see them playing Scrabble.  Partners and tables were switched to include other games, including Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders and Cluedo. Scores were kept and the winners shared the prizes with their friends and rivals!

Pamper Day

Some of our lovely residents enjoyed a pamper day. Hair was trimmed and styled, and ladies' nails manicured and painted.

They are getting ready for our upcoming afternoon tea, where their families can join in by Zoom! Residents and families alike are all looking forward to having tea together even in an unconventional way.

Trick or Treat?

After a morning of pumpkin carving and decorating the home, our residents enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment and games with trick or treat prizes. This was followed by a special Halloween tea.

'50s Afternoon

We hosted a 1950s-inspired afternoon tea for our Falcon Place residents. A selection of sandwiches, pastries and cakes were provided by our fantastic Head Chef, Stuart.

They were joined by their family members on Zoom so that, even in these unprecedented times, families were still able to enjoy a good ol' British cup of tea together and a singalong to some '50s favourites
