Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

The TT Races

Here at Oak Grange in Mollington we have a gentleman on respite that is quite famous in the world of the TT. So we have been watching the TT races in the Isle of Man with our ladies and gentlemen. A few of them had been to watch the TT races and some had been to visit the Isle of Man.  Bill Smith had been in the race on numerous occasions, won 5 races and has a record for the most memorabilia for the TT. He has been going since 1967 and been there every year for 70 years. He showed us his trophies and talked to the residents about his time at the TT races. How wonderful that he could share some of his proudest moments with us all.

The residents all enjoyed the afternoon with drinks and nibbles.

Magic Table

Here at Oak Grange we are very lucky to have an interactive Magic Table, This gives our residents hours of fun and interaction with each other, bringing out the competitive side of the most placid person this game provides lots of cognitive benefits as well as hand and eye coordination. Sweeping the leaves to making music, popping bubbles and painting pictures there is a game for everyone. We have lots of fun playing this game.

National Beer Day

We had a fun-filled day as we raised a glass and tasted top ales in recognition of National Beer Day.

Our residents from Oak Grange in Mollington enjoyed a trip to the local to sample a few different beers.

We had a really good chat about home brewing, the disasters of home brewing and what we all liked about making our own homemade drinks. Some very funny stories about exploding wine and funny tasting beers.

It was a wonderful day, enjoyed by our gentlemen who chose to come. The sun was shining and it was lovely to be out at the local pub who always make us very welcome.

RAF Museum London

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

World Ocean Day

We got involved in fun-filled activities and discussions in recognition of World Ocean Day.  Did you know that 71% of Earth’s surface is water, and our oceans play a vital role in our planet's ecosystem?

To mark the day, our residents learned about various ocean environments with a talk. They took part in ocean-themed quiz, and produced a lovely ocean picture to display in the home.

,Cycling Without Age

Oak Grange is very close to the countess of Chester park. What a wonderful experience our two lovely ladies had yesterday afternoon in the Cheshire countryside. The  park is a beautiful place for a walk or bike ride with lots of places to stop and admire the stunning views. In connection with cycling without age they had an afternoon of feeling the wind in their hair and then a drink at the local to finish the day off. Thank you to CWA you are doing the community a fabulous service.
