Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oak Grange Care Home

Administrator celebrates 10-years long service

Congratulations to Diana, our Home Administrator, who celebrated her 10 years service. Diana joined Oak Grange before the home officially opened.   Thank you, Diana for all of your hardwork from everyone at Oak Grange

The Astor's

Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service.  The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.

The Astors time at Cliveden came to an end in the 1960 s after the estate became infamously associated with Profumo Affair, but the house and garden continue to reflect their innovations and passions.  We all had a brilliant time.

The Wallace Collection

We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.  The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour.  We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.

Mum's the word

Residents at Barchester Healthcare’s Oak Grange care home, in Mollington celebrated Mother’s Day with visits and video calls from family members near and far. The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting for the occasion.

Staff at Oak Grange arranged an afternoon tea party the jobs of mothers and the famous mothers of the past Head chef, Simon Burns prepared a special menu of roast turkey to mark the day.

General Manager, Sarah Butler said: “We’ve all had a really lovely day.  It has been so good to see family members who were able to visit in person and to have video calls with those who are further away.  Our residents enjoyed a fantastic lunch and then a delicious afternoon tea prepared by our brilliant chefs. Days like these are so special.”

St Patrick's Day

Today we celebrated St Patrick’s Day in recognition of the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland.

The home was decorated with shamrocks and we all enjoyed exploring the Irish culture through a variety of themed activities.

60th Wedding anniversary

A couple from Oak Grange care home, in Mollington have celebrated 60 years of marriage.   Terry King-MaGee, aged 81 and Hilary King-MaGee, aged 77 met at Chester Milk Bar in May 1961 and it was love at first sight.

They married at Backford Church and moved to Heath Lane, Whitby. Where they had their first child. Terry worked as a Butcher in a little shop in Saughall village, Chester. A few years later they had their second child. They then bought their first house in Little Sutton. Where they had a third child. They have 3 children, 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Hilary says the secret to a long and happy marriage is “a lot of give and take and more give than take and to make time for each other no matter what.”
