Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Roni Paynter
Hi, My name is Roni and I am the Lead Activities coordinator here at Oak Grange, the wellbeing and happiness of each resident are at the forefront of everything we do, and I am committed to upholding these values as your activities coordinator.
Having worked in various care settings and possessing a passion for enhancing the lives of older adults. I bring a wealth of experience and creativity to the role. My primary objective is to create a vibrant and engaging activities programme that caters to the unique interests, abilities and preferences of each resident.
Together, we will embark on a journey of discovery, enjoyment and companionship. From engaging social events and group outings to stimulating cognitive exercises and creative pursuits, our goal is to ensure that there is always something for everyone to look forward to. Furthermore, I am here not only as an Activities coordinator but also as a friend and confidant, I encourage open communication, suggestions, and feedback from each resident and their families.

Life at Oak Grange Care Home
60th Wedding anniversary
A couple from Oak Grange care home, in Mollington have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Terry King-MaGee, aged 81 and Hilary King-MaGee, aged 77 met at Chester Milk Bar in May 1961 and it was love at first sight.
They married at Backford Church and moved to Heath Lane, Whitby. Where they had their first child. Terry worked as a Butcher in a little shop in Saughall village, Chester. A few years later they had their second child. They then bought their first house in Little Sutton. Where they had a third child. They have 3 children, 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Hilary says the secret to a long and happy marriage is “a lot of give and take and more give than take and to make time for each other no matter what.”
Book corner with Angela Cobbin
We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’. ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!
Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.
Politics and Passion at Cliveden
We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.
The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.
Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.
The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.
NESCAFE virtual tour
We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.
We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.
To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.
Magic table
Residents of Oak Grange have enjoyed an interactive session on the homes Magic table, it brought a lot of laughter as residents found ladybirds in the autumnal leaves and watching the colourful fish.
Valentine's celebrations
Happy Valentine’s Day. Our home was filled with flowers, cards, balloons and decorations as we celebrated the day of love in style with sweet treats and gifts.
We marked the day by having a conversation about romantic moments and hosting a themed flower arranging group.
Our residents had the opportunity to taste delicious themed sweet and savoury treats, prepared by our talented chef, whilst listening to all-time favourite love songs.
It was a lovely day and it was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get involved with the day’s festivities.
