Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Residents enjoy Mexican themed celebration

Residents at Oak Grange celebrated the traditional Mexican Day of the dead with a themed day where they participated in a cultural talk by one of the homes activity coordinators, Claudia Godínez as they compared the Mexican tradition day of the dead often wrongly mistaken by the Mexican Halloween and how in reality it is more like the Catholic celebration of All Saints and All Souls’ Day.

There was also a Mexican show where Residents enjoyed watching the traditional dance which the people of Mexico do through the streets as part of their celebrations.  Themed activities are popular within the home and Residents are looking forward to their next event!

Halloween

We celebrated Halloween with music, dancing, special treats, cards, games and reminiscence sessions.

Activities Coordinator, Heather and Claudia, dressed up and prepared a special Halloween dance for the residents.

All residents were happy and thoroughly enjoyed all the activities with a big smile, and we got to share some nice spooky stories.

,

World Food Day

As part of World Food Day at Oak Grange, residents enjoyed a varied selection of food and treats from around the world.

We’ve been doing some reminiscing about the times when we were under food rations and how all the healthy industries have been developed.

Oktoberfest

Residents at Oak Grange enjoyed varied games and a degustation of German flavours. The laughs and joy invaded Oak Grange as everyone engaged with the beer tasting and the pinball beer games.

Games afternoon
