Activities at Oulton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.

Louise Hunter-Hall

Life Enrichment & Activities Coordinator

Hello my name is Louise, I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton park care centre.

I joined Oulton Park late 2023 but I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I have a compassion for my role and work. During the 20years I have supported many different adults with different care needs including, nursing care, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, independent living and 1:1 needs. I have both my level 2&3 in care and level 2 in sign language.

At Oulton my role is to create and organise a range of engaging and meaningful activities. My role brings me a great deal of comfort and joy.

If I can just make 1 persons life better during my working day at Oulton Park then the day has been a success. I feel honoured, fortunate and blessed to do the job I do.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A 'Chuffing' Good Time!

Making wishes come true for our resident Ernest.

Ernest has always expressed his deep passion and interest in trains and when asked where the place he wished he could go would be, he said he would love to go and see the trains.

With time and planning, we were able to team up with the Waveney valley model railway club to make it come true. With the use of sensory oil, the smells and sounds of trains, plus the wonderful display, it made you feel like you were in a train station.

It was a truly wonderful afternoon.

Christmas Card Appeal!

This year, for our Christmas card appeal, we received 170 Christmas cards from all over England and even received a card from New Zealand.

Last year launched our 'care of Christmas appeal', where we asked members of the local community to send Christmas cards to our residents to spread the Christmas spirit to those who don’t have or have very little family to celebrate the Christmas season with.

Last year was such a success and brought so much joy to the residents. So we started the appeal again in 2024 and it had spread even further. The residents were so happy with all the cards they had received.

Christmas Party

What a wonderful residents' Christmas party!

We had fun games, live music, dancing, smiles and laughter which filled the home.

Residents and staff also enjoyed some tasty treats made by the kitchen team, they even got to cut into their Christmas cake which they had been working on, and it was delicious.

The afternoon was filled with so much fun.

Christmas Cake Reveal

Here is our wonderful Christmas cake entry.

Our residents decided on a snow globe theme for this year’s competition and I’ve got to say the results look amazing.

The time and skill the residents used to create such lovely cake we cant wait to try it.

Christmas Fayre

Residents, family and friends enjoyed a wonderful Christmas fayre at Oulton park care centre with lots of lovely stalls from knitwear to jams, there were lots of wonderful gifts for people to buy.

The residents even had their very own stall selling crafts they had made for the Christmas period.

Our wonderful kitchen team made delicious cakes, sausage rolls and they even had their own pork roll stall, it was all very tasty.

The Christmas fayre was so much fun with live performances by the 3rd Oulton brownies and rainbows who performed some Christmas carols and then we were also joined by Jonny laff for an afternoon of Christmas musical fun.

We must not forget we were visited by Santa himself who spread the Christmas spirit round the home with his very own Santa’s grotto where you could get a present and a picture with him. It was a jam packed day of fun and smiles!

Preparing the Christmas Cake

With Christmas coming up, the residents began their Christmas prep making a tasty Christmas cake.

The smell of cinnamon, mixed spice, cherries and brandy filled the garden room.

They spoke about what their mothers or grandmothers would do at Christmas time and the way they would cook their Christmas cake.

It was wonderful to hear these stories and reminisce together.
