Activites at Oulton Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.

Louise Hunter-Hall
Life Enrichment & Activities Coordinator
Hello my name is Louise, I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton park care centre.
I joined Oulton Park late 2023 but I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I have a compassion for my role and work. During the 20years I have supported many different adults with different care needs including, nursing care, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, independent living and 1:1 needs. I have both my level 2&3 in care and level 2 in sign language.
At Oulton my role is to create and organise a range of engaging and meaningful activities. My role brings me a great deal of comfort and joy.
If I can just make 1 persons life better during my working day at Oulton Park then the day has been a success. I feel honoured, fortunate and blessed to do the job I do.
Celebrating life at Oulton Park Care Home
Dinosaur Day
Over the last week, residents have been working on some dinosaur and prehistoric crafts, making floral-themed artwork and creating their very own fossils using seashells in honour of Dinosaur Day.
We also watched documentaries about the amazing work archeologists have done finding and preserving bones that date to prehistoric times. It has been very interesting and great fun. Resident were also visited by some dinosaurs with big smiles and laughter throughout the home. We’ve had a great week here at Oulton Park.
Trip down memory lane
Resident, Ivy, took a trip to the Lowestoft Heritage workshop centre to go and view the beautiful model display they have of the old Beach Village where she was born and raised, which sadly no longer stands.
This was a wonderful experience. Ivy spoke about her memories of growing up in the beach village. She was able to point out the school that she attended.
Ivy spoke about how as a child she would climb over the empty herring barrels and get told off by the women working. Ivy even got to see pictures of the old swimming pool that was there. She remembered talking about the pool but was told there wasn't one there. She was proven right and got to see a picture of the pool to prove it. It was wonderful to be able to see Lowestoft’s heritage and have a look back into what Lowestoft used to look like.
VE Day street party!
Residents and staff transported themselves back to the 1940s where they enjoyed a themed lunch experience, in honour of the 80th anniversary of VE day.
Residents had great fun enjoying some amazing food prepared by our wonderful kitchen team. Whilst enjoying lunch, residents engaged in conversation about their own experience of the war and their memories of VE day. It was truly wonderful to hear their stories.
VE Day musical fun!
Residents at Oulton Park were joined by the very talented Vibettes for their VE day celebrations. Residents, staff, friends and family were engaged and involved with the celebrations of the day.
From dress up to party hats, what a wonderful afternoon everyone had. Thank you to everyone who supported Oulton Park and made the day one to remember. One resident enjoyed the music so much and said "The Vibettes are on par with the Andrew sisters."
Mini Musical
We were joined by the wonderful Svetla, who lifted our spirits as she took us on a journey across the world with songs from so many wonderful countries. We travelled to Italy, France, Greece and Great Britain all through the power of music.
The music lifted everyone in the home, bringing smiles and some great singing from our residents at Oulton Park care centre.
Rugby Fun
Gordon enjoyed a follow-up trip to watch the Rugby at our local, Lowestoft and Yarmouth rugby club.
This time, the weather was better - instead of snow we had sunshine. It was such a great afternoon. Both of the teams played well and Gordan enjoyed a pint of beer and some good company whilst watching the match. We always enjoy getting out in the community to support local teams.
Tomato Wishes
Gladys mentioned how nice it would be to be able to grow her own tomatoes and wanted to be able to watch them grow from the comfort of her room.
So we set about making this wish a reality. Once we had got the tools and items we needed, with some help, Gladys was able to plant her very own tomatoes. She is now waiting and watching them grow.
Saint David's Church Service
For Saint David’s Day we were joined by Liz from St Michael’s Church, who supports Oulton Park every month with a Church Service. Today was based on St David.
St David was a Welsh Christian prelate who served as Bishop of Mynyw during the 6th Century. Today's service was filled with the story of St David, songs and prayers.
A wonderful morning was had by all. These religious sessions support faith and human connections, supporting our residents' wellbeing and life enrichment.
International Women's Day and Women's History Month!
In recognition of these dates, residents and staff have enjoyed a journey back through time, learning about a few of the famous women who, throughout history, fought and earned their right to be remembered for their groundbreaking contributions to their careers and the sacrifices they made.
We also enjoyed a wonderful demonstration by our very own Louise, who showed us how Tudor women dressed and how they acted in the presence of the king. We also delved into and spoke about the story of Anne Boleyn. It was very informative and great fun.
