Activities at Oulton Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.

Florence Rheel
Life Enrichment & Activities Coordinator
Hello my name is Florence. I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton Park care centre. I have worked in care for just over nine years and moved to Oulton Park 5 years ago. When I started at Oulton park I was a care assistant, which I loved doing and found very rewarding. However at the start of 2024 I changed roles and moved to the life enrichment and activities coordinator role, which I have love doing and I am very excited for upcoming community projects. The most rewarding part of my role is seeing the residents smiling, laughing and enjoying the activities I have planned
Celebrating life at Oulton Park Care Home
Deck the halls
Transforming the home into a magical Christmas wonderland.
The residents were delighted to share their own traditions of Christmastime, bring this to life at Oulton Park, unravelling the fairy lights, and hanging the baubles ready for a whole host of Christmas celebrations.

School's Christmas performance
Residents were delighted to attend St Michael’s Church to watch Oulton Broad primary school's Christmas performance.
The children’s voices rang throughout the church as they sang, and the residents joined the festive spirit, singing along to the carols. A wonderful way to spread Christmas cheer!
Rugby with a pint
What a great afternoon we had watching our local team L&Y 1XV vs Norwich medics.
Gordon had a great time watching the match, even getting the chance to chat with one of the players who came up to chat to him both before the match and after, and of course, Gordon enjoyed a couple of pints and a burger. What a great match it was with L&Y 1XV winning 72-00!
Circus Day
At Oulton Park, we enjoyed some circus-themed fun! We had Andy the clown visit the amazing circus workshop where Oulton Park residents and Ritson Lodge residents learnt how to juggle, spin plates and make balloon animals.
It was a day full of fun and laughter. We were even visited by some inflatable clowns. Great fun had by all.
Oh we do like to be beside the sea side
With the beautiful weather we have been having outside, ivy and Mary with the activities team enjoyed a nice trip to the seaside, they got to look at the beautiful coastline and enjoyed some tasty chips Whilst breathing in the sea air. This year We have been following Lowestoft’s Summer Trial, where we've been looking out for the decorated hares posted all around town. We managed to find another one at the Pavilion at south pier. It was wonderful to enjoys each other company and chat about how the beech used to look and where the punch and Judy show used to be.
Christmas Fayre
Oulton Park hosted their annual Christmas fayre in December. The home welcomed lots of wonderful stalls with their fabulous gifts on offer, from knitted clothes, engraved woodwork, raffle and delicious cakes.
The home raised a fantastic amount for the resident’s fund, £404.42. A massive thank you to everyone who supported and joined the home for this festive afternoon.
Christmas Cake Baking
At Oulton Park we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends and exploring new adventures.
Our Residents enjoyed a Christmas cake baking activity. Once they had mixed and baked the cakes they created some fantastic finished cakes which all the Residents could enjoy.
Our Activities Team is dedicated to organising activities that truly engage.
Macmillan coffee morning
What a lovely morning we had raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. It was such a lovely morning with lots of residents and relatives joining in chatting together whilst enjoying some tasty cake.
We would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone that came. We raised a fantastic £73. How amazing is that!?
Cliff top trips
Flo enjoyed a wonderful trip out to Pakefield Cliffs, where she enjoyed a visit to the local church.
We saw the local sheep grazing and the beautiful sea view. This was a very beneficial trip out supporting mind, body and soul.
Dinosaur Day
Over the last week, residents have been working on some dinosaur and prehistoric crafts, making floral-themed artwork and creating their very own fossils using seashells in honour of Dinosaur Day.
We also watched documentaries about the amazing work archeologists have done finding and preserving bones that date to prehistoric times. It has been very interesting and great fun. Resident were also visited by some dinosaurs with big smiles and laughter throughout the home. We’ve had a great week here at Oulton Park.

Staff recognition
Congratulations to Andrew, who was awarded the management recognition award.
You’ll see Andrew with a smile on his face, and he is often heard singing as he goes. Always going above and beyond. Keep up the fantastic work Andrew!
Santa's Helpers
At Oulton Park we love hosting events that we can open up to our relatives, friends and the wider community. Life at *Care home* is about being part of the local community and enjoying life long hobbies whilst also exploring new experiences.
Oulton Rainbow Brownies visited the Residents at Oulton Park to sing some Carols and even went to sing on individual rooms visits. They created a special Christmas treat for all.
Pirate Day
What a fantastic day we've had celebrating talk like a pirate day.
The residents were joined by Buccaneer one eye, Lou & Guzzler Flo Sparrow, who left their ship at Lowestoft harbour to celebrate this fun day. There were activities sheets, sounds of the sea shanties and dressing up. It was a shiver me timber experience.
We were joined by the wonderful Jonny Laff who shantied us through the afternoon. He was a scallywag as he made one eye Lou & Guzzler Flo dance (as only Pirates do).

Trip down memory lane
Resident, Ivy, took a trip to the Lowestoft Heritage workshop centre to go and view the beautiful model display they have of the old Beach Village where she was born and raised, which sadly no longer stands.
This was a wonderful experience. Ivy spoke about her memories of growing up in the beach village. She was able to point out the school that she attended.
Ivy spoke about how as a child she would climb over the empty herring barrels and get told off by the women working. Ivy even got to see pictures of the old swimming pool that was there. She remembered talking about the pool but was told there wasn't one there. She was proven right and got to see a picture of the pool to prove it. It was wonderful to be able to see Lowestoft’s heritage and have a look back into what Lowestoft used to look like.
