Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

The great outdoors!

Residents at Ouse View are making the most of the warmer weather to enjoy the homes outdoor space.  The parasols have been put up around the homes extensive outdoor sitting area for those who enjoy a spot of al fresco dining, sun hats and high factor sun cream are in abundance as residents enjoy the great outdoors and fresh air.

The home benefits from a great outdoor space with landscaped gardens and there are lots of shaded areas for residents to sit outside with a book or a drink.

Easter Celebrations 2023

Over the Easter weekend we had an 'Eggcellent' time with a packed schedule of activities.

Our lovely residents at Ouse View in Fulford have been busy painting eggs, decorating Easter bonnets and sampling hot cross buns and on Saturday we made Easter nests followed by a traditional egg hunt in the garden on Sunday.

Puff Pastry Sessions

Residents had a blast making croissants with each other here at Ouse View, we added chocolate to the puff pastry and rolled it up to create a delicious treat before brushing egg onto the top. Whilst we waited for them to bake, residents played new games on the magic table such a puzzle building and finding fishes. The best part was definitely enjoying those delicious croissants together, such a lovey smell of fresh pastries throughout our memory lane community.

Easter Bunny Hunt

Here at Ouse View in Fulford the 'Easter Bunny Hunt' is in full swing with maps being collected in the home.

To join in with the fun, pop into the home and collect your map and head out to find the names of the bunnies.

In six locations around Fulford we have hidden Easter bunnies with their own names on for you to find.

Find each name, fill out the form and return this back to Ouse View on Good Friday - Tomorrow!

Happy Easter from all of us here at Ouse View Care Home.

Easter Preparations

Here at Ouse View we are crafting and constructing as our residents complete puzzles, build Eiffel towers and reading post cards received from families.

Ouse View is delighted to house residents who are engineers and have fantastic tales to tell. Brenda and Gerald developed strategies and challenged each other as to who can make the tallest Eiffel tower, each taking a different approach aided by suggestions from other residents.

Later in the day residents began designing Easter bouncing bunnies to be hopped around the home, we are all looking forward to welcoming the winners of the bunny hunt next week!

Coffee Pong!

At Ouse view we had great giggles playing ‘coffee pong’. Residents showed their competitive side as they battle for success to land the ball into the cups. Gerald and Brenda showed great skill and accuracy scoring a goal multiple times challenging each other to a second round!

This simple but effective game kept us all entertained for most of the morning, all the while enjoying refreshments and chocolate treats, there were smiles all round.
