Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home

Residents Retail Therapy

Residents from Ouse View visited the Designer Outlet Shopping Centre and it was a blast! With designer brands at discounted prices, we found some amazing deals and stylish new outfits. It was a shopping paradise, which we finished off with coffee and waffles.

International Flower Day

Residents took part in flower-based activities throughout the day including a flower arranging session, reminiscing about their gardens in the home’s garden which everyone really enjoyed.  Their collective knowledge about flowers gained from years of gardening experience was very impressive.

Rebekka Richardson, General Manager at Ouse View said: “Our garden is a much loved space in the summer months, residents really enjoy looking after the plants and flowers and watching them grow and change through the seasons. We don’t have many flowers at the moment so our residents very much enjoying the activity of flower arranging inside the home.”

Toffee Treats

At Ouse View residents were celebrating English Toffee Day. We boiled sugar, butter, and syrup until it reached the hard ball stage, then added some flavoring and poured it into a greased tray to set.

Once it was cool, we broke it into pieces and everyone enjoyed a tasty treat. It was a great opportunity for the residents to socialize and get involved in the cooking process.

Plus, the toffees turned out delicious!

Visit from the Local Church

Here at Ouse View residents and visitors had an amazing get together when Jackie Tuvey-Smith and Pippa Ensaw brought to us, a coming in of the new year prayer service.

Residents were delighted to see the familiar faces from church and to have the opportunity to observe their faith as individuals and as a group. We shared some hymns and social time followed by a coffee afternoon.

Double celebrations at Ouse View

Residents and colleagues at Ouse View celebrated as Deputy Manager, Fatima and Senior Carer, June received a prestigious golden 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for just over 10 years.

Fatima Buxton and June Kendal started together at Barchester in October 2012 and have worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
