Activities at Ouse View Care Home
We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Rachael Turner
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.
Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Ouse View Care Home
Time Out at St Oswald’s Church
Residents at Ouse View in Fulford stretched their legs and were ‘out and about’ for a monthly Time Out community event at Fulford local St Oswald’s Church. Residents of Ouse View enjoyed reminiscing with an old style sing along, live music from the band “The New Notes” and scrumptious sweet refreshments. Delighted by the event, residents also enjoyed discovering new friendships and some residents even re-kindled friendships.
Milkshake Shack
The Milkshake shack arrived at Ouse View today, Our residents became mixologists, adding ingredients and tantalising their taste buds.
Nutrition, hydration and balance are all key considerations of our resident’s needs and they certainly enjoyed the end result!
Festival followers
Today we are festival followers, residents from Ouse View visit the York food festival. We tickled our taste buds with treats a plenty and brought some back to share. To brighten the home we brought back a lovely bunch including our residents.
Beautiful bouquets
Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.
During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.
We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.
Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.
Cheese and wine evening
At Ouse View, our residents created their own evening of social sophistication. Enjoying cheese and wine tasting.
The emotion that the opera brings is enjoyed by our audience, as our residents created a playlist selecting their favourite composers or symphony.
We raised a glass as we enjoyed our refreshments and each other's company.
Teamwork
Today at Ouse View our Residents cooking skills are called upon as we brew up tasty tea time treats. Residents love to be social and feel empowered by helping each other and doing things as independent as possible, staff are always here to support when needed.
