Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home

Creating Jubilee Cupcakes

On Sunday, here at Ouse View, Residents rolled up their sleeves to create fabulous Platinum Jubilee cupcakes. Once ready for the all-important taste-test, they raised a glass of the Queen’s own favourite tipple, Dubonnet-gin-lemon cocktail, to thank her for 70 years of dedicated service, and then tucked into their cakes. Smiles all round.

Carers week

Happy Carers Week! We would like to take this great opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful carers here at the home.

We are proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

National Trust talk

Our homes had a fantastic time joining National Trust Talks Service team at Cliveden House for an inspirational talk on Nancy Astor – the first woman to take a seat in the House of Commons.

Our residents had the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating life of Nancy and her political career. As the first women MP, she experienced both attention and scandal throughout her life, which led to many triumphs and numerous disasters.  The talk was truly enjoyed by all.

Ferndown florist demo

Our homes had a lovely time joining Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florist for an intriguing flower arrangement workshop in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful virtual demonstration and got inspired to create their own flower posies for our Jubilee displays.  Our home will be specially decorated for the upcoming festivities. Stay tuned.

Edwardian Tearooms

Ouse View transformed into an old fashioned Edwardian Tearooms for an afternoon, Care Team and Activities Coordinators serving afternoon tea to our Residents. The cakes, homemade by our Head Chef, Eve Goodger and Sean Cawker went down a treat with freshly made coffee and a selection of teas and infusions.

Balloons of Fun

Exercise this morning at Ouse View was something a little different. Ten Residents, sitting in a circle, challenged to keep the balloon in the air for as long as possible, and had a great time as they achieved more and more with each round. Afterwards everyone agreed it had been a great work out: stretching, reaching and bending without even realising they were doing it!
