Activities at Park View Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Celebrating life at Park View Care Home
Park View at the zoo
Our residents and staff had a wonderful day at London Zoo, filled with learning and excitement. The day began with an engaging presentation from the zookeepers, who emphasised the importance of hoof care, introducing us to the fascinating okapi, an unusual animal that many hadn’t seen before. After the presentation, we explored the zoo, encountering a variety of animals such as ostriches, giraffes, and capybaras.
The highlight was watching the lively gorillas, swinging on ropes and interacting during their feeding time, especially the adorable baby gorillas. To cap off our adventure, we visited the penguin exhibit, where the penguins were particularly active, providing a delightful end to a memorable day.
VE Day at Park View
The residents joyfully celebrated VE Day with a delightful tea party, creating a warm atmosphere filled with laughter and camaraderie. Tables were elegantly set with fine china, adorned with vibrant flowers, and a spread of delicious treats, including scones, sandwiches, and an array of pastries. As they reminisced about the significance of the day, stories of resilience and hope were shared, bridging generations.
The air was filled with the nostalgic tunes of the era, encouraging some to dance, while others engaged in animated conversations. This celebration not only honoured the historical moment but also strengthened the bonds among the residents, fostering a sense of community and shared memory.

Long service awards!
We celebrated two members of staff's 10-year award, on behalf of everyone here, our residents, their families and the entire team.
We want to say a big thank you to Marinela and Emilia. We are very happy to have you as part of our care home. We appreciate your work, and we look forward to many more years of working together.
An insightful session on Parkinson's disease
During the recent session on Parkinson's disease, Dr. Goriparthi engaged with resident staff and families in a thoughtful discussion aimed at enhancing understanding and support for individuals affected by this condition. He emphasised the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, highlighting how caregivers, medical professionals, and family members can collaborate to improve the quality of life for patients. Dr. Goriparthi shared insights on the latest treatment options, including medication and therapy, and stressed the significance of early intervention.
The session also provided a platform for families to voice their concerns, ask questions, and share experiences, creating a supportive environment that fosters community and empowerment in managing Parkinson's disease. This dialogue not only informed but also strengthened relationships among staff, patients, and their families, underscoring the humanistic aspect of care in neurology.

Dementia week
On the third day of Dementia Week, we welcomed the Memory Service for an informative talk about dementia, attended by both residents and their relatives. The session provided valuable insights into the nature of dementia, its effects, and supportive strategies for both caregivers and those living with the condition.
Attendees engaged actively, asking questions and sharing their own experiences, which fostered a sense of community and understanding. This open dialogue not only educated participants but also strengthened the bond between residents and their families, emphasising the importance of support and compassion in navigating the challenges of dementia.
On Day 4 of Dementia Week, the ladies embraced a serene sensory relaxation day designed to engage their senses and promote a sense of calm. The atmosphere was filled with soft music, gentle aromas of essential oils, and the soothing sound of water features, creating a tranquil environment. Activities included tactile experiences with various materials like silk and sand, allowing participants to reconnect with their senses.
They enjoyed guided mindfulness exercises, which encouraged deep breathing and reflection, helping to reduce anxiety and enhance their overall well-being. This day not only provided a respite from daily challenges but also fostered connections among the ladies, as they shared stories and laughter, deepening their bonds in a peaceful setting.
On Day 5 of Dementia Awareness Week, the knitting activity for residents took on a special significance. As they sat together, surrounded by vibrant yarns and the gentle click of needles, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of camaraderie and nostalgia. Participants engaged in heartfelt conversations, sharing stories from their past—memories of family gatherings, holidays, and the joy of creating handmade gifts for loved ones. This blending of knitting and reminiscing not only sparked creativity but also strengthened their connections with one another, fostering a supportive environment. The day served as a reminder of the power of community and the importance of celebrating the unique stories and experiences of each resident, reinforcing their sense of identity and belonging during this meaningful week.
