Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Paternoster House Care Home

A dream Come True

One of Paternoster House's special couples had a dream come true when Shirley was able to visit Barry downstairs instead of Barry going upstairs.  With the support of the team Shirley has been able to move into a chair and it filled our hearts to see how happy they both were.

Halloween Treats all Round

Paternoster House have been busy over the past couple of weeks crafting with autumn leaves to make vases for our beautiful flowers that we arranged today, along with making sweet treats for the local nursery that visited us weekly in the summer.

It has been a truly special Halloween with so many children in the home and with the amazing pumpkin carving creations we just couldn’t choose a winner so everyone is a winner.

Spooky Pudding Club!

Our residents, families and staff definitely had a treat with our monthly Pudding Club.

This month we spoke with the children who visit regularly their Nan’s, Granddads, great Nannies and Great Granddads and they too wanted to treat their love ones with these delicious puddings, so the activities team gave Chef Sam the brief.

Halloween was the theme and yet again Sam didn’t disappoint with amazing puddings from Toffee Apple Sponge, Salted Caramel Spiders Web Tart to Chocolate Cupcakes with Orange Buttercream.  Maddie and Sandy had the trick of taking the Halloween Pudding trolley around to all the communities without dropping these wonderful puddings and they succeeded with everyone enjoying the treat!

Star Puts the Clocks Back!

The latest update on our kitten Star is her new adventures on Parklands where she certainly is making herself at home. She was making sure the clocks was turned back so she could get an extra hour’s sleep in her basket after playing and tiring herself out on her new climbing scratching post!

Dreams Can Come True

Wishes do come true, as Paternoster House resident Mo found out, when she attended a wonderful performance of Betty Blue Eyes.  Mo’s wish was to see her daughter in law a member of the cast singing and dancing.  With the best seats in the house she certainly did just that!  We all so enjoyed a fantastic show.

We have wish pots in each of our communities within the home, please do let us know if there is a wish we can grant for your love ones.

Bonzo Visits Paternoster House!

We had another lovely visit from Performing Pets who brought along Bonzo a stunning Owl she had a wonderful personality and a fantastic character, she brought so much joy.

Animals can trigger the release of endorphins, a feel-good factor which gives a calming effect and boosts the level of serotonin, a chemical linked with happiness and well-being.  We absolutely love the monthly visits from Performing Pets and love that the animals are a surprise each month.
