Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Phillip recently dropped off some gorgeous hydrangeas plants for our residents to enjoy. Community support like this means the world to us, and we can’t wait to see these settled into their new home in our garden.

Paternoster House was delighted to host the Mayor of Waltham Abbey in honor of International Women’s Day.

Our lovely Mayor took the time to speak with our residents, sharing insights into her role and listening to the many diverse histories of the women living here. 

It was a memorable event that truly highlighted the strength and wisdom of the women in our care.

90 years young and more fabulous than ever! 

Today we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating a very special milestone for one of our beloved residents Brenda. Surrounded by her wonderful family, friends, and our team, the afternoon was filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of dancing!

A huge thank you to our musical entertainer Ian Gallagher Singer King of Swing Cabaret Nights for keeping the party moving and making this day truly unforgettable. Happy 90th Birthday Brenda.

"Any way you slice it, we had a 'dough-lightful' day! 

In honor of National Pizza Day and assisted by Lucy, our residents became master chefs for the afternoon. We think they’ve mastered the art of the perfect pizza and each slice tasted absolutely delicious.

Piece by piece, our residents are showing us that patience and focus never go out of style! 

To celebrate #NationalPuzzleDay, we’ve spent the morning tackling everything from world maps to beautiful landscapes. It’s more than just a game, it’s great for the mind and even better for the soul. Puzzles also provide vital mental stimulation for our residents, helping them to improve memory and concentration.

Our residents and volunteers have been busy bees, and it’s so exciting to see these colorful blankets finally taking shape. Every square represents a conversation, a laugh, and a lot of heart.

These will soon be heading off to their new homes to bring a bit of comfort to those who need it most. A big thank you to our volunteers for your help and kindness as always.

Our hearts are full after a very special World Book Day! We were delighted to welcome the wonderful students from Upshire School, who visited us dressed as their favorite characters to share stories and smiles with our residents.

As if that wasn’t enough magic, we also had a very special visit from Performing Pets who bought along some gorgeous baby chicks. There’s nothing quite like the therapeutic joy of holding a tiny chick or sharing a story with a new friend. Seeing the generations come together today was truly priceless.

We had a 'batter' day than most here celebrating Pancake Day.  Activities and kitchen staff teamed up to make sure every resident had a warm pancake with their favorite toppings. From Angie’s flips to first bites, it was a day full of fun and full tummies!

Who knew we had so many dance floor divas and disco dandys?

We had a blast with our lovely live musical entertainer Heidi that got our residents and staff on their feet (and some even on the mic) from the clapping to the twirling, the energy was infectious! 

Valentine’s Day Card Making at Paternoster Care Home. Our residents enjoyed a lovely creative session making Valentine’s cards for their loved ones.

Using colourful Valentine’s stickers, flower stencils, glitter, and lots of imagination, everyone created something truly special. A beautiful way to share love, smiles, and creativity this Valentine’s Day.

Proof that we're the loudest house on the block! 

Our residents don't just "listen" to music, they take over the show. This involved 10% singing, 40% dancing, and 50% wondering where they get all this energy from. Check out the photos for some serious sass and world-class smiles.

We'd tell them to keep it down, but we were too busy joining in the fun. 

Capturing the Magic of Nature (Indoors!) 

Our residents had a "splashing" good time during today’s arts and crafts session! Using smooth stones, tiny jars, and a little bit of "water" magic (cleverly crafted with hot glue!), they created these beautiful miniature waterfalls. It’s amazing to see how a few simple materials can turn into a peaceful desk-side oasis.

Love was in the air and in the rhythm at Paternoster House. This morning we welcomed dancer; Ella Brown for a special Valentine’s tap dance performance. Seeing the smiles on our residents faces as they watched through the performance was priceless, it was a truly 'toe-tapping' morning of joy and connection. We can’t wait to see you again!

Surprise! We caught our two birthday residents off guard today with a joint celebration. They were both so incredibly grateful, and we were just as happy to celebrate them. Cheers to another wonderful year birthday besties!

A massive thank you to our musical entertainer Tracey Lea for surviving our percussion section. You haven't truly lived until you've performed for a group of people who use instruments as headwear and give 110% on the maracas!
