Activites at Paternoster House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Celebrating life at Paternoster House Care Home
Our Homes Full of PRIDE
Wow, what a wonderful and colourful day our residents, family, friends and guests have had today!
We had our Open Day at Paternoster House today and invited the one and only Ian Gallagher Singer King of Swing Cabaret Nights to entertain for our residents and celebrate Pride Day with us.
Lots of fun and laughter had by all.
Magical Dementia Disco!
This morning we held our first Dementia Disco. Our residents said “they had a great time and asked if we can do it again”
So now we have a monthly disco for our residents and for anyone from the community to attend, so look out for our posters!
Garden Design and Planting
Our residents and garden design enthusiasts have been working hard to brighten up the Woodlands Community courtyard. The happy team have been painting and planting!
They've potted wild flower seeds to provide enough nectar for the wonderful bees and small insects. We've even bedded down some tomato plants as requested by our residents who remember growing them before joining us.
Resident Barry wanted a Cherry tree to plant in the gardens of Paternoster which is now in the ground. We're all very excited to see it in blossom and eagerly await some lovely cherry’s.
Fun and Games
Our residents decided to have a chilled and relaxing afternoon out of the sunshine by playing some fun table-top games and puzzles together, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Did you know that we have regular activities, events and entertainment happening at our home that are open to the community?
If you fancy attending alongside our residents, or even challenging them to a game, please call the Activities Team on 01992 787202 to find out more.
Sinatra Swings Out
Today we had our new Musical Entertainer Ian Gallagher performing for our residents. Ian Gallagher is widely regarded as the finest Sinatra impersonator in the UK.
Our residents, staff and guests thoroughly enjoyed his amazing performance, we loved his choice of songs all of which got us up singing and dancing along to!
Virtual Reality Experience
What a wonderful experience our residents had this morning with VR Time.
Our residents today have travelled to Rome, Australia, St Lucia, around the world from the sky and on Safari whilst not even stepping out of there home.
Virtual reality can bring significant benefits to dementia residents, including recall of past memories, stimulation and reminiscing and much more; which we all experienced today.
Trip to Waltham Abbey
Today’s plan was to go to Waltham Abbey Market and have a look around, but due to the weather there was no market. But that didn’t stop us from having a bit of fun!
We had a light snack and refreshments Kalik Coffee House , then a little walk around Abbey Gardens to show our residents King Harold’s resting place before heading home.

Community Gift from Tesco
A massive thank you to Waltham Abbey Tesco Supporting our Community champion Michelle for your lovely donation, we are so grateful.
Our residents enjoyed having a lovely warm hot cross bun with their afternoon tea.
Trip to the Local!
Cheers Everyone - On Wednesday we popped over to our local pub Queens Head - Waltham Abbey for a tipple in the sunshine.
They had fun chatting about old times, and Trevor was saying how longs it’s been since he last had a larger shady which went down a treat.
