Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Lucy the Lamb comes to Visit

A lovely visit from Lucy the Lamb this morning from the fantastic Performing Pets. Lucy, the 13 day old lamb, had our residents full of smiles during this morning’s pet therapy session. Everyone enjoyed cuddles with this beautiful bundle of fluff, and we look forward to seeing who visits us next time.

Gardening Club

Our gardening club is well under way, with residents spending time in the garden during the sunshine planting a range of beautifully coloured flowers donated by Michele from Waltham Abbey Tesco. It was so lovely to see residents, family and friends pull together in this afternoon activity and we are hoping to run this club weekly through the spring and summer weeks (weather permitting)

5* food hygiene

A very big well done to our fantastic kitchen team for maintaining our food hygiene standards at a 5* level.

Last week we had an inspection from Epping Forest District Council and have secured our 5* rating for more then 10 years running, this was especially special as we got this rating with the perfect score. This just shows the pride that our kitchen team take on ensuring they maintain a clean and safe environment to work in and deliver exceptional food for our residents.

Pudding Club

Having spoken with the residents about their favourite puddings from their childhood days , one was clearly a winner ……a traditional trifle and especially Hazel saying that it was one of those (after’s) that had everything in it, from sponge fingers, fruit, jelly, custard and cream and not forgetting colourful sprinkles ( hundreds & thousands )

Hazel then went on to reminisce of her own childhood and going into adulthood, marrying Charlie then having four children which they all enjoyed the trifle. It stayed a firm favourite.

I then had great pleasure in speaking with Hazels family to find out that generations are still enjoying to this day.

Hazel was so pleased to see her (after’s) was on the menu and she could share with her fellow residents.
