Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Hello, name is Ashley and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Paternoster House.

My aim is to ensure every resident is as happy and active as possible. We host a wide variety of activities and live entertainment including singers and bands, animal and music therapies, art sessions, gardening and outings to the local community.

I love getting to know new residents and their families and helping them to settle into life at Paternoster House.

Poodle Joy!

We had a joy-bringing visit from Performing Pets who brought toy poodle puppies for us to meet! This adorable pair had everyone at Paternoster House falling in love with them.

Residents and staff wanted the gorgeous little bundles and fun to stay, and Performing Pets have promised to return for another visit soon.

Paradise Wildlife Park Trip

Today was National Wildlife Day and we could not think of a better way to celebrate than a trip to Paradise Wildlife Park.

The wildlife park is fantastic and allowed us to get up close with a huge range of exotic animals including tigers, wolves and reindeer. The outing was hugely popular and we had a lot of fun despite the weather being slightly against us.

Valentine's Day Deliveries

We had a wonderful delivery this morning of no less than 70 beautiful red roses from the kind team at The Balloon And Flower Room.
These will be handed out to residents as well as being used to make the home look lovely.

Our brilliant Care Practitioner, Chloe has baked delicious Valentine's themed cupcakes for all the residents and staff.

Along side this our fantastic Activities team have a whole host of Valentine's themed activities planned for the day.

Valentine's Day Fun

In preparation for Valentine's Day we held a photo-shoot for the residents and staff.

It was a fun afternoon and we had a lot of funny and romantic stories to share about our favourite Valentine's Days.

We have big plans for Valentine's Day itself so watch this space for more news.

Chocolate Heaven

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, staff and residents at Paternoster House were treated to an interactive virtual cookery demo courtesy of chef, Alex Connell, from Vegetarian for Life.

Chef Alex created some Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts in a live, interactive cookery demo.  Much to residents’ delight, head chef James had prepared the same recipes so that residents could try all the delicious desserts. First, residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding which was absolutely heavenly.  Then they tried Alex’s hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to Alex’s Chocolate Orange Cake.
