Activites at Ritson Lodge Care Home

Hosting events for friends and family members to join us is an essential part of our activities program and we are always looking for new ideas to bring the wider community into our home.

Ensuring that we host events that relatives and friends can join is very important to us here at Ritson Lodge. We hold regular events including a monthly Knit and Natter, weekly Toddler Groups and a monthly Dementia Cafe.

At Ritson lodge we love provide events for our local community, friends and Residents as it make the home a place to be.

Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar.

This week our Residents enjoyed an outing to the local garden centre. It was great to see relatives of the Residents join us to. Our outings are open to relatives and it is great when they come to spend time out and about with us.

Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program and all the trips we take are at the request of the residents. Our monthly activities calendar boasts a range of outings and entertainment.

Daily activities for our Residents at Ritson lodge are an important part of our lifestyle enrichment programme. Our Activities team take regular feedback from the Residents  to ensure that we create a fun packed day every day.

Our Head Chef Tom loves getting involved to help the Residents hone their baking and catering skills so that everyone can enjoy the sumptuous goodies that they make.

At Ritson Lodge we have a whole team approach and all our departments love to bring a smile to our Residents and also keep them engaged in daily actvities.

Arts and crafts at Ritson Lodge offer our residents numerous benefits, including stimulating cognitive function, boosting mood, and promoting social interaction. Activities like painting, drawing, collage, and origami can help residents express themselves, reduce stress, and maintain fine motor skills. 

Our Residents enjoyed a visit from K Crafts and really enjoyed interacting with each other to produce some very colourful work.

At Ritson Lodge we support our residents to continue with their favourite hobbies, and encourage them to share and teach others about these too.

Come and join the fun at Ritson Lodge's weekly Parent and Toddler group . Our Residents love the weekly group that takes place every Tuesday morning and its's a great opportunity for young and old to share stories and interact.

We know that intergenerational activity is hugely beneficial to all involved as it encourages communication and social skills. Intergenerational contact also helps to develop language and reading confidence through shared activities, as well as increasing confidence and self-esteem. Lastly it helps children to develop empathy, care and kindness, helping them to understand and talk more positively about ageing and older people.
 

At Ritson Lodge Care Home we love hosting events that we can open up to our relatives, friends and the wider community. Life at *Care home* is about being part of the local community and enjoying life long hobbies whilst also exploring new experiences.

Apollo East Coast Special Education Department students visited our Residents today. The students had prepared a V.E Day presentation to understand why it was such an important celebrations. They also provided activities including building Spitfires and Bingo. They finished the morning off with a dance show and a sing along to some 1940s classics. It was great to see the students build their knowledge of V.E day and share this with the Residents at Ritson Lodge.

Taking part in intergenerational activities such as social engagements and interactions, bring together younger and older generations for a common purpose. These activities build on the strengths that different generations have to offer, as well as nurture understanding, respect, and challenge ageism.

National celebrations and family-friendly events are just some of the ways that we ensure the residents at Ritson Lodge remain connected with their loved ones and the wider community. 

There were an array of activities to celebrate this very special occasion at Ritson Lodge. Our residents enjoyed a visit from Hopton Primary school pupils who had spent time preparing a V.E presentation, followed by some classics from the 1940s performed by Ellie and then the Residents enjoyed an afternoon high tea.

Animal therapy is one of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program and features regularly on our resident-led weekly activity planner.

Our Residents enjoyed a visit from some fluffy lambs and enjoyed some cuddles and affection. The Lambs enjoyed a good feed from the Residents. There was Baaaughter all round.

Residents at Ritson Lodge love the animal therapy sessions that our dedicated Activities Team organise. As one of the foundations of our Life Enrichment program, we know that animal therapy can help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health.

Our Head Chef Tom provided a sumptuous High Tea for Mothering Sunday and our Residents and Relatives enjoyed some quality time together on such an important day.
