Activities at Ritson Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Ritson Lodge Care Home

103rd Birthday Celebrations!

103rd Birthday Celebrations!

On the 30th April, we were extremely privileged to present Grace a beautiful bouquet of flowers for her 103rd birthday! The chef’s combined their efforts to make a lovely birthday cake for her, and the residents joined Grace for afternoon tea, once she arrived back at Ritson from a day of celebrations with family and friends. We are very lucky here to have three residents over the age of 100, with our eldest being 104, and we are very much looking forward to continue celebrating the remaining birthdays we have this year, including a 105th in August!

Employee of the Month - February

Employee of the Month - February

Another month has passed and another member of staff has been recognised for the excellent work they do! February’s Employee of the Month is Carly who has been a care assistant as Ritson Lodge for just over a year. Carly has shown “outstanding effort, over and above her everyday job requirements and is kind and attentive to resident’s needs, being an inspirational role model”. Another nomination form states that Carly “always works hard and well, but always makes time for the residents who really need her care”. All of the staff at Ritson Lodge put their heart and soul into their jobs and for residents, relatives and other members of staff to notice the love, care and passion provided is wonderful.

Donation to the Alzheimer’s Society

Donation to the Alzheimer’s Society

Christmas was an extremely busy period for Ritson Lodge and consisted of entertainers, outings, celebrations, raffles and fetes. We were very grateful to have raised a brilliant total of £213 from a Christmas raffle. Many people bought raffle tickets and some won brilliant prizes. We can’t thank local companies, who donated some raffle prizes, enough for their generosity. We had some wonderful gifts up for prizes! We have recently received a visit from Lowestoft Alzheimer’s Society who came in to be handed over a cheque of £213 for this amazing fund.

100th Birthday Celebrations

100th Birthday Celebrations

We were very grateful to be able to spend a very special day with a very special man. One of the residents, Anthony Cooper, turned 100 years old and we got to witness the moment he opened his telegram from the Queen. He had a party with his family to celebrate the special day and the celebrations continued back at the Lodge with a lovely birthday cake made by one of our Chefs. Happy birthday Tony!

A Visit from Gorleston U10’s Football Team!

A Visit from Gorleston U10’s Football Team!

We are very lucky to be able to sponsor a local and very talented football team. Ritson Lodge have recently provided the team with new training tops and they were keen to come show them off around the home. We have some residents who have a very keen interest in football and many of our residents look forward to seeing the team. The team stopped by before a Sunday football game and they even went on to win their game!

A visit from Charlie Chaplin

A visit from Charlie Chaplin

As some of you may know we always look forward to having a special visit from a Charlie Chaplin impersonator and we are lucky enough to have had him come in a few times now. It was a nice surprise to have him return in December and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Staff and residents joined in with some singing, dancing and laughed away at some brilliant jokes. It really was fantastic!
