Activities at Seaview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are exercise classes and a walking group, regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest including local concerts, as well as weekly visits from a PAT dog, and regular visits from musicians and entertainers, as well as church services which are held twice a month. We also host a weekly social event in which we encourage residents from the whole home to socialise together.

Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Seaview is fun and active.

Taste North

Cathy attending the Taste North event at Wick High School on Sunday the 3rd. It was a large event full of food and drink from everywhere in the Highlands. Cathy was delighted with her cool Doctor Who designed tablet thanks to Vals Scottish tablet.

First experience of Bubble Tea was had today and what a laugh we had with it. From picking the different flavours to drinking it and not realising the bubbles popped in your mouth. Lots of samples were had from sweet to savoury. Goats cheese and tablet treats, all delicious. We visited every business stall, smelling candles and trying not to be tempted by the whisky samples.

The Wallace Collection

Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.

Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.

Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Chair Zumba with Steph – Exercise

Steph came in and got started right away. She was lively and fun. The residents got involved right away and enjoyed the Halloween themed songs and following along with the movements. Residents enjoyed the music even if they couldn’t take part with the movements, slowly tapping their feet or singing along to the music that was on. Residents said it was nice to do something different and would like to take part again. This was great exercise and it gave the residents right boost.

Haven House Healing – Music and Mindfulness

We had Lisa in from Haven House Healing in for a visit. Residents started off with some light chair exercises and focusing on their breathing and senses around them. Residents followed the friendly instructions and had fun joining in. This was good for a light fitness activity as well as challenging the mind softly.  Lisa then moved on to using her lovely musical instruments which included a gong, flute and windchimes. She moved around the room so residents could hear better and they all seemed to enjoy this. The residents were smiling and afterwards commented on how lovely it was.

Virtual afternoon at the theatre

Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

Virtual trip to Cornish Seal Sanctuary

A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!

Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.

Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
