Activities at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinator is constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. We have regular outings in the mini bus to nearby places of interest including local garden centres and parks as well as musicians and entertainers. We also hold bingo evenings which are helped out by our residents families. We also have a local pub nearby which the residents enjoy visiting from time to time for a spot of lunch or sitting in the gardens in the summer time. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests as best is possible. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Sherwood Lodge Summer Fair
The day started overcast and dull with a little rain, not good omens. However just in time for the arrival of our visitors the sun made a welcome appearance. The air was filled with smell of hotdogs and happy greetings sounded all around. As the children played on a giant inflatable beach ball and bouncy castle our entertainer sang the old favourites. It was wonderful to see a strong turnout of friends and relatives laughing as they ate cream cakes and sandwiches . The stalls were manned by volunteers, special thanks to Sue and Lucie for all their help also to Fred from the Evangelist church for once again supporting a Sherwood Lodge event. The lovely family atmosphere really lifted the spirits of our residents, the laughter continued as our Manager Tracy and Deputy Manager Karen served their time in the stocks and received their the wet sponges and buckets of water with a smile – and revenge in mind.
A trip to the pub
The heavens may have opened this morning, however that didn’t stop us making plans. The sun came out just in time for our residents to enjoy an afternoon at the Sherwood Pub.
A nice bit of sun and fresh air is the best tonic available
Trip to community cafe
The rain doesn't last forever and it certainly didn't stop our residents this morning. They all donned their big coats and off they went to enjoy cups of tea and coffee, a nice bit of cake and a good natter at the local coffee morning group.
Our residents look forward to coffee morning each Tuesday morning at the local Community Evangelistic Church and its perfect for engaging with our wider community.
Father's Day
Happy Fathers Day to all our Sherwood Lodge family! Our gents today have celebrated with a delicious home cooked roast, some token gifts and of course, a glass of goodness to toast with!
Thank you to all our staff for making the day so special for our wonderful Dads at Sherwood Lodge.
Historic Hendon
Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.
Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.
The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.
Showing our appreciation!
Random acts of kindness can mean so much!
These simple acts can remind us of the importance of expressing our thanks and appreciation for those around us and make someone’s day. Today, colleagues surprised General Manager, Tracy and Deputy Home Manager, Karen with a beautiful bouquet of flowers each as their thanks for all that they do in the home and following a positive internal report.
It’s a whole team approach here at Sherwood Lodge
