Activities at Sherwood Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our Activities Coordinator is constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. We have regular outings in the mini bus to nearby places of interest including local garden centres and parks as well as musicians and entertainers. We also hold bingo evenings which are helped out by our residents families. We also have a local pub nearby which the residents enjoy visiting from time to time for a spot of lunch or sitting in the gardens in the summer time. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests as best is possible. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Sherwood Lodge Care Home

Residents enjoy chinese banquet
Our Residents spoke and we listened! Residents said they would like a themed dinner and that’s exactly what we provided....with a Chinese restaurant style evening. Residents have got involved and busied themselves over the last week making Chinese lanterns and decorations while our head chef David planned a special Chinese menu, and it has been a huge success this evening.
From chicken noodle and sweetcorn soup and spring rolls to Chinese chicken and beef and peppers in oyster sauce, served with rice, noodles and Chinese style vegetables, and of course prawn crackers. It has been so successful we will be hosting a different themed evening each month.

Eyes down for themed bingo
Some of our residents have “bingo’in” mad for our animal bingo this week.
Eyes down for a full house!!

A little ray of sunshine
Even though it’s been hot outside this week, we’ve had a little ray of sunshine visiting inside Sherwood Lodge this week.
Little Renea-Rae came to spread some happiness and put smiles on our residents faces for the afternoon. Who could say no to some baby therapy?

Harvest Festival
Our residents were delighted to attend a Harvest Festival service led by Rev. Jane Wild and assisted by Caroline and Dot from Fulwood Methodist Church .
We sang the beautiful harvest hymns and listened to Janes enlightening words followed by sincere and thoughtful prayers.
At the end of the service our General Manager Tracy Lyons presented our food donations to Jane to be distributed to food banks in Preston.
We would like to thank our staff and visitors for their kind donations.

Space magic
This week our residents have delved into the world of magic and illusions by building a magic flying UFO and now the practice begins, nimble fingers and hard concentration. Watch this Space for our debut launch! They created the illusion of a flying saucer, hours of fun was had by all.

Mayfair of Nightingales
Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.
We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas. The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
