Activities at Snowdrop Place Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Snowdrop residents enjoy Get Moving Week at Tenpin Bowling

What a brilliant time we had at Tenpin as part of Barchester’s Get Moving week! Our residents took to the lanes with plenty of enthusiasm and... some very creative bowling techniques!
No strikes were scored, but that didn’t stop the fun! Huge congratulations to John W, who was crowned our winner with a whopping 90 points — not bad for someone who claimed they were “just aiming for the gutter”!
Thanks to Tenpin for the warm welcome and helping us make memories. We may not be ready for the bowling league just yet, but we had an absolute ball!
Employee of the Month - May

Employee of the Month - May

Congratulations to Anisa, a really important and well loved member of our Housekeeping Team at Snowdrop Place as she is our Employee of the Month for May.

Knowing each resident individually and taking time during her busy days to interact with them, our resident Audrey loves nothing more than a cuppa and a natter when Anisa has a moment.

We really do appreciate all you do, so thank you.

World Culture and Diversity Day at Snowdrop Place

World Culture and Diversity Day at Snowdrop Place

Snowdrop Place came alive with colour, rhythm, and flavour as we celebrated Culture Day—a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the diverse cultures that make our home so special.
Residents and team members joined together to enjoy traditional dancing, sample sweet and savoury delights from around the world, and learn fascinating facts about each other's backgrounds. A special shout out to our talented Romanian chef, who treated us to some truly delicious dishes!
Days like these remind us how rich and vibrant life is when we celebrate our differences and share our stories. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this joyful event to life!
Snowdrop Place Antiques Afternoon

Snowdrop Place Antiques Afternoon

We were absolutely delighted to welcome the wonderful Karen Dalmeny , renowned antiques expert and familiar face from TV, to Snowdrop Place Care Home for a fascinating Antiques Valuation Day!
Residents, families, and staff brought along their treasured heirlooms and hidden gems for Karen to examine — and she didn’t disappoint! From vintage jewellery to wartime memorabilia, every item had a story, and Karen brought each one to life with her expertise, warmth, and charm.
The day was filled with memories, laughter, and discovery, sparking beautiful conversations and a lovely trip down memory lane. Thank you, Karen, for making it such a memorable and enriching experience for our community!
Employee of the Month - April

Employee of the Month - April

Congratulations to Beverley Smith, part of our busy Hospitality team as one of our valued Kitchen Assistants. Working hard amongst others each day, baking beautiful home made cakes for our residents and guests and being an integral part of the team especially within our Memory Lane community.

Bev has been part of our home since earlier this year, a welcome addition and we're delighted she was nominated and we're celebrating her achievement of Employee of the Month at Snowdrop Place for April.

Pictured with our General Manager Gemma Hicks, who commented "Bev is a great and valued member of our home team".

We were delighted when in the spring the local team from Ageas Insurance reached out to offer a day of volunteering at our home. Chosen by their team we were lucky enough to have 12 extra pairs of hands to share the day with our residents, along with getting some great things done around the home.

Organised by Rachael Harley, the group commented "In terms of the day itself, we enjoyed being able to mix with the residents, the highlight being joining in with the game of skittles, well done to the winner John!  For our green fingered team members, it was lovely weather for us to get out in the sunshine and build some new planters and make a visual difference to the common areas.  Thank you for having us".

We look forward to seeing you all again soon! And a huge thank you from all our team and residents.

A special evening at Snowdrop Place! We were thrilled to welcome the local Brownies, who visited us to perform a wonderful Talent Show as part of earning their performance badges!
From singing and dancing to jokes and magic tricks, their energy and creativity lit up the room — and our residents absolutely loved every minute.
A big thank you to these talented young stars for sharing their gifts with us and making everyone smile.

With the 80th celebration of VE Day recently we were privileged that our wonderful resident Iris Café, who also recently celebrated turning 100 years young was invited to meet with Meridien Television recently along with two other local residents from our sister homes!
They all spent time sharing their recollection of events at that time with reporter Dereck Johnson from ITV and Ann Churcher camera operator. Iris, a part of the land crew was an important member of one of the teams making parachutes through the war, reminiscing of her commitment and experiences shared of that time in our history.

Our residents were warmly welcomed to Deer Park School for a very special afternoon tea, and what a memorable visit it was!
The students were absolutely captivated by our residents’ stories — listening intently as they shared what life was like during the war and how communities celebrated VE Day.
There was an extra buzz of excitement as the students realised they were meeting someone famous — our lovely resident Iris, who had appeared on ITV Meridian News just the evening before!
Intergenerational sessions like this are incredibly valuable. They build empathy, understanding, and respect between generations while giving young people a chance to connect with living history. Our residents also benefit greatly — feeling valued, heard, and inspired by the curiosity and kindness of the younger generation.  A heartfelt thank you to the staff and students at Deer Park for their hospitality, warmth, and genuine interest. It was a truly uplifting experience for everyone involved.
