Activities at South Chowdene Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Niki Powell
I arrange meaningful activities for all of our residents based on their likes and interests. I love sharing fun times with our residents, their families and with staff. I thoroughly enjoy chatting with residents about their hobbies/interests as well as reminiscing in small groups.
Our activities extend beyond the home with trips to places of interest, places residents have enjoyed throughout their lives eg. Seaside, parks, garden centers, as well as craft/ art workshops at libraries and general interest talks around the area.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Employee of the Month - August
Our Employee of the month for August was Care Assistant, Donna Sim.
Staff who nominated here feel that Donna always goes above and beyond in her role. Donna has a young child at home but still picks up numerous shifts to help her colleagues out.

Bake Off at South Chowdene
South Chowdene held a ‘Bake Off’ during Foundation Week. Families and staff members brought in homemade cakes, which were judged by our local Councillor. The winner was the pick-and-mix chocolate cake and carrot cake - joint first. Both were made by staff members, Michael and Gary; Michael made the carrot cake and Gary made the sweet cake.
Staff Slumber Party
Staff brought their teddy bears and jammies to a slumber party at South Chowdene. Everyone had a lot of fun and the residents seemed to enjoy the overnight company.
A Day Out at the Coast
Staff and residents enjoyed a trip to the coast recently. It was good to get out of the home for a while, and the day was made even better with a visit to the funfair.
A Very Cute Visit
Staff members brought in their own dogs for the residents to play with. It was an adorable visit and it certainly put a smile on everyone's face.
