Activities at Southerndown Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Stacey Davies

Activities Co-ordinator

I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Chipping Norton Community Awards

We were given the very proud responsibility of supporting the Chipping Norton Town Community Award 2024 on Friday night. After successfully supporting the textile fair, we were asked to return this time providing canapes and drinks ahead of the awards ceremony last week. Our fantastic team put together a stunning range of food to enjoy, whilst our General Manager Arlene, and Activity Co-Ordinator Stacey got behind the bar for the evening to help out.The event was made even more special as Dr Sheila Parker, who lives with us at Southerndown was invited to attend as an honouree member of Chipping Norton. She was asked to present the William Fowler Allotment Award on the night. What a very proud moment for Sheila and her family, and an amazing evening had by all.
