Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Grindley

Activities Coordinator

Hello My name is Zoe, I have been in the life enrichment team at Southgate Beaumont since December 2021.

I am originally from Liverpool and moved to London in 1997 after being accepted at Mountview Theatre school. After graduating I worked as an actress and accomplished voiceover artist for many years. I also have a vast amount customer service experience, working in many West End Theatres, as Cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and at Claridges hotel in Mayfair.

Zoe has a passion for making strong connections with people and creating lasting memorable experiences.

My role here at Southgate Beaumont is to ensure our residents lives are packed full of enriching and interesting activity. We provide a wide range of both home led and community led activity for all residents as well as personalised and individual hobby and interest focused events. Our programme ranges from cocktail making, to art history talks, exercise sessions as well as fine dining dinner parties catered for by our chefs

I have made lots of lovely new friends at Southgate Beaumont care home and look forward to making many more.

Garden Party 2016

Garden Party 2016

Another amazing garden party this year, we had lovely food and refreshments, amazing entertainment and a gorgeous sunny day. A great turn out from our residents and their friends and family a great day was had by all.

A note from our residents

TO ALL STAFF AT SOUTHGATE BEAUMONT

We would like to say how much we enjoyed the Garden Party. It was the hard work of all the staff at the Beaumont who made the day so enjoyable.

The carers who go so many of our community outside into the fun with smiles on their faces then back in again when the party was over and they were all still smiling and so patient. How do they do it?

The work of all the kitchen staff and crew. Working behind the scenes providing the food. Making sure everyone had something to eat and drink. Working right to the end clearing up the garden. Now that was hard work.

We have to mention Steve and all his work. Thank goodness he did not leave us who would have cooked the burgers!!! There he was at the end still working after hours over the hot barbeque.

Also Samantha and her belly dancers. What a colourful sight they were. I bet we are the only care home in the whole of England that has belly dancers at a garden party.

Our reception girls were out there as well working hard. Smiling (as they always do) and looking after people (as they always do)

Finally Laura and Mark for their tireless work throughout the day. Helping Steve set out the garden ready for the event and all the clearing up at the end. What would we do without Mark?

YOU ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE THANK YOU

Southgate Beaumont host Tea Party for Contact The Elderly

Southgate Beaumont host Tea Party for Contact The Elderly

Contact the Elderly is currently the only national charity solely dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people. Supported by a network of volunteers, the charity organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people, aged 75 and over, who live alone. Offering a regular and vital friendship link every month. Each older person is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and taken to a volunteer host for the afternoon. Tea parties are a real lifeline of friendship for our older guests who have little or no contact with family or friends. They bring people of all ages together, develop fulfilling friendships and support networks, and give everyone involved something to look forward to each month

Samantha, Home Services Advisor, from Southgate Beaumont contacted “Contact the Elderly’s” local coordinator and arranged for Southgate Beaumont to host the group.

“We had 14 guests from Contact the elderly, 7 older people and their drivers, who joined our residents and their families for Tea. Our Head Chef Mark Roberts prepared a lovely afternoon tea that was very well received by our guests, in fact they said it was the best they had had.

Samantha arranged a goody bag for the guests to take away that included an invite to future events. A very special Thank you to Mark Shenker who helped look after our guest.

The afternoon was such a great success we are already in the process of booking Tea Party dates for Hugh Myddelton House and Cheverton Lodge as well as arranging to host a Sunday Lunch for the group as part of the Spare Chair Sunday campaign Contact the Elderly are running in conjunction with Bisto.

Thanks again to our wonderful Volunteer Mark Shenker who’s help is invaluable.
