Activities at Springvale Court Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Springvale Court Care Home

Holly & the Ivy
Staff and residents across our homes were treated to an interactive virtual Christmas-inspired table decorating masterclass, courtesy of talented master florist, Kathryn Delve.
Kathryn is an independent florist based in Somerset, she specialises in creating unique wedding and event flowers. She takes much of her inspiration for her displays from the beautiful scenery that surrounds her home and the changing seasons and colours.
During the workshop, residents were invited to join Kathryn to make beautiful Christmas-themed table decorations.

Walk through a landscape
Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.
Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.
Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Congratulations!
Congratulations Chris on passing your level 2 apprenticeship in Commis Chef with distinction! Chris started work here at Springvale Court in September 2022 as kitchen assistant. Through lots of hard work from himself, supported by Head Chef Shan and General Manager Gemma, he is now our Second Chef.
Well done Chris. Onwards and upwards. Reach for the stars!

Resident delighted to meet royality
Staff and resident, George at Barchester’s Springvale Court care home in Gateshead were delighted to have the opportunity to meet Prince William when he visited Birtley Community Pool in Birtley. Staff at the home knew that their resident George is a huge fan of the royals so took him along to meet the prince.
Prince William’s visit to Birtley Community Pool was to celebrate its reopening and highlight the importance of access to public swimming facilities. Prince William joined medal-winning British Olympic and Paralympic swimmers at the event. Volunteers raised £400,000 to save the pool as a not-for-profit venture, after Gateshead Council closed it in July last year due to budget cuts.

Birthday wishes!
Birthdays are a firm fixture in our home and we love to recognise and celebrate our residents.
This month we celebrated Phyliss’s birthday. The birthday girl enjoyed reading through cards from her family and friends and became a little embarrassed when we sang a rousing rendition of ‘Happy birthday’ to her, saying that we shouldn’t have bothered with all the fuss!

Some Mother's do Ave Em
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.
