Activities at Strachan House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Strachan House Care Home
Beat The Clock
We continue to celebrate a varied life enrichment programme and across our services we linked up with other Barchester care homes and hospitals up and down the country for some interactive Beat the Clock games.
Our residents truly enjoyed solving word puzzles, conundrums and mathematical problems as part of Barchester’s very own game show series.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.
Inside the Factory
We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.
Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.
The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.
Strachan House Welcomes Police Heroes
Colleagues and residents at the Strachan House Care Home in Edinburgh, warmly welcomed PC Colin Cursiter and PC Holly Matheson to speak to our residents and guests.
PC Colin Cursiter and PC Holly Matheson spoke to the audience about their time on the force, the challenges they face and the rewards from helping the local community, before taking questions from the residents, relatives and guests.
Pimm's O Clock
It was time for 'Pimm's O Clock' at Strachan House as we welcomed our residents, families and guests for an afternoon of refreshing Pimm's cocktails and live music.
Residents from around the home came together in our lounge area as we welcomed Kirsty Duncan who performed a brilliant and energetic music performance. Featuring a variety of hit favourites from yesteryear.
Residents sipped on classic Pimm's cups, enjoying this traditional favourite beverage against a musical backdrop.
Mother's Day
This Mother's Day was all about celebrating the wonderful and incredible women in our lives!
Against the live backdrop of the relaxing melodies of jazz music by the one and only Corinne. We enjoyed a social afternoon filled with a lovely afternoon tea and a selection of tasty sweet treats laid out by our amazing team in the kitchen.
It was so lovely to see everyone smiling and enjoying themselves!
