Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home

Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.

Alison Wareing

Activities Assistant

Hi, I'm Alison. I am the Activities Assistant here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.

I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals.  After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication.  The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.

Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.

Independence Day

Staff and residents had a wonderful day celebrating Independence day. Everyone was entertained by Sophie Bennett while enjoying burgers and hotdogs cooked by the fabulous kitchen team. It was an amazing day and all residents commented on how much they enjoyed it. Residents gave the kitchen team a round of applause for all their hard work.

Art Workshop

Sutton Grange hosted an inter-generational event with St. Stephens school, in order to bring residents and students together. They had an art project for the home's open day. Children alongside residents participated in the making of the art, which is now proudly displayed in our reception area for all to see, in our newly designed residents' gallery.

The Magic Table

We are delighted to announce that we have just had a Magic Table installed, which is an interactive light projector, designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.

The light projections respond to hand and arm movement, allowing residents to stay stimulated and, most of all, have fun!

You can read more about it on this page.

Keeping Fit

Residents of Sutton Grange enjoyed a little gentle exercise to music. Everyone loved doing their regular work outs, and it’s a great way to boost motor functions.
