Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home

Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.

Alison Wareing

Activities Assistant

Hi, I'm Alison. I am the Activities Assistant here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.

I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals.  After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication.  The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.

Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.

Residents had a lot of fun decorating some gingerbread men – and even more fun eating them!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We hosted a bake-off in recognition of Macmillan Coffee morning. Jay Tinker, a contestant on Master Chef, came along with his daughter to judge the baked good, and the winner was one of our very own nurses. Cath was rewarded with a bottle of Forgan's 42 gin for her delightful creations!

Good Vibrations

Good Vibrations

We had Steve Sutton come to entertain us on Friday 12th October. Steve is an amazing performer and all the residents love it when we ask him to join us. He sings a wide variety of songs and gets the residents up to sing and dance, which everyone enjoys.

,

The Sound of Music

Tina Riley came in to entertain us recently. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were singing and dancing along throughout the afternoon. Tina sings many songs from all across the ages and is very popular at Sutton Grange.

Music Man

Music Man

We were joined by Steve Sutton, who entertained us with his singing and dancing. He is becoming a personal favourite at Sutton Grange.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

We ran with National Talk Like a Pirate Day; Alison and Rob dressed in costumes that were donated for a day by Wizards Den, a fancy dress shop in Liverpool. All the residents and staff were given pirate names for the day, they wore patches, and received certificates for being honorary pirates. We can still hear the pirate song in the distance if we listen quietly.
