Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Gemma Bhandari
My name is Gemma I am an Activities coordinator at Sutton Valence care home. I have been working here for nine years and love it. I grew up in Sutton valence village and attended the local Primary school.
I have always been passionate about the care of others and enjoy enriching the lives of our Residents. I have a Diploma in Health and social care and have worked in private health care for over 14 years. I have always loved performing arts and studied this at school. I am a very proud Mother to Amaya and Jacob.

Yoga with Kerry
Truly…yes…the infectious laughter and silliness is all yoga, wellbeing and good for the heart.
Kerry brings out the very best in our fun loving yoga group.
Thank you Kerry for giving us so much fun and agility every first Tuesday of the month.
Sutton Valence Gardeners Association
Our entries in the Sutton Valence Gardeners Association all won FIRST prize. Adele and Lynn were fantastic ambassadors for our home. Lynn was asked to present the cups to all winners and Adele to be the SVGA official photographer. Both rose to the task with cheer enthusiasm and professionalism. Integration with our community is truly important to us at the home. It offers more rewards than can be listed!
Tiny hats
Tctivity team and residents, met Val at the Sutton valence flower show on the Sunday (8th September). Whilst chatting, Val asked if we would like some twiddle muffs for our Residents and to sell at our Christmas bonanza on the 7th December. Of course we accepted and this morning Val popped in with an abundance of Fiddle muffs and darling little premature baby hats. The hats will certainly be put to good use and some sent onto neonatal care hospitals. Once again- Thankyou Val for your kindness and thinking of us.
South Division Carer of the Year!
It is with great pride, we can say that our senior carer, Lorraine wickens has been crowned carer of the year at this year’s care awards for the south division and is through to the National finals round of judging.
Lorraine joined us in March 2008 and has worked her way up in the home to senior care. Very proud Manager Robert Dura-May, wanted to recognise this outstanding team player, with his own thanks and flowers to celebrate her success and show his pride in his team member, Lorraine.

Words that will stay with us 'pink ladies' for an eternity.
Weeks of planning and liaising with our sister home @HernePlaceCareHome to perfect a momentous surprise for our hearty lady Eileen (aka Ann) to re-connect with her beloved husband after being apart for over a year.
Thanks are extended to the staff at the home for accommodating our wishes and going one further to make the liaison even more romantic by providing private dining...time alone for our love birds.
Especial Thanks goes to Sophie (Lead Lifestyle & Enrichment Co-ordinator) for pulling every stop out to ensure our plan was fulfilled
20 Years of Service!
A huge congratulations to our Deputy Manager Nisha on receiving her 20 years’ service award. As a team we are all very proud of Nisha and what she has achieved over her time at Sutton Valence care home.
