Activities at Sutton Valence Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Sutton Valence Care Home

Lynn's Poem Robert

Our talented poet and short story writer, Lynn, has been busy creating some funny and charming pieces to entertain our residents and staff. Lynn has written a poem for Robert's 60th birthday celebrations to show how much the home feels about his leadership and role.

Turning 92

We celebrated Lil's 92nd birthday! She was made a wonderful cake by our Head Chef, Mark, and had visits from her daughter, Marilyn, and granddaughter, Leah. We hope you had a lovely birthday, Lil!

Birthday Celebrations

Sam turned 106 years old! He was taken out for lunch with his family and had a lovely cake made by Head Chef, Mark, and also received a card from the Queen! We hope you had an amazing birthday Sam; you amaze us every day!

General Manager of the Year

Robert Dura-May has beaten all the competition to be crowned National General Manager of the Year in the Barchester Care Awards 2021.

The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 12,000 residents living in Barchester’s 248 care homes and private hospitals across the country. Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.

More than 2,900 nominations were received from homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Robert is over the moon to have been named the national winner in this category.

Our Divisional Winners

It is with great pleasure that we say a very big congratulations to all of our Divisional Winners from the Barchester Care Awards, announced a few weeks ago, from over 2,900 nominations received in the company.

We would also like to say a huge congratulations to every one of our fantastic nominees! The final list was indeed, as always, a very difficult decision and you have all done so well in being nominated.

Zumba Session

Residents enjoyed a morning of Zumba with our instructor, Donna, who comes once a month to hold a class. There were smiles all round on Wednesday as Donna pumped it up for exercise. The room was bursting with energy and residents had such a good time learning some new moves. Activities coordinator, Ricky, said it was great fun and loves seeing our residents enjoying themselves.
