Activities at Sutton Valence Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Sutton Valence Care Home
Beautiful moments in our home
The role of an Activity Co-ordinator is one of variety with the core of our work being about our fabulous residents.
Each week we're privileged to be a part of a Skype call between one of our residents, Madge, and a very, very close neighbour, Julia. Every week Julia plays the piano for Madge and recites prayers to which a calm and peaceful look falls upon Madge's face.
Madge had a huge influence upon Julia's life; the bond between them is overwhelming and still continues.
Today was exceptional; beyond any words that could be written.
Madge talked to Julia about her brothers and family, finished every other line of the prayer Julia recited and spoke the words of the hyme played.
An honoured privilege to be party too
This was a very personal moment and out of respect a photo of Madge has not been taken. The rose picture represents the beauty of our story and reflects that with a little imagination a lot may be achieved.
Singing for Health
A huge thankyou to local 'singing for health' group, a local voluntary group that provide song, laughter and a community feeling where all residents can be engaged in joyful song and movement. The group came to Sutton valence this morning to sing some beautiful songs to our Residents and their families. What a great community event
Coronation Celebrations
The sky may have been grey outside but we all celebrated the day with sunshine smiles, laughter and love. At sutton Valence Everyone looked fabulous in red, white and blue. We had a wonderful morning of music from from PJ and Rose and all gathered round to watch our new King be crowned followed by an delicious Buffet and raised a glass to commemorate the day.
A hand to hold
Nothing in this world compares to the comfort and security of having someone just hold your hand.
I hope this photo of Love lifts your spirit and creates a warm glow in your heart as it did mine at work.
Getting ready for Easter
We've started our count down to Easter with designing and creating Easter Chicks, bunnies, laced eggs and flowers.
Eileen cracked on with her Easter wreath which will be made by colouring several Easter eggs and then placed onto a handcrafted wreath Work in Progress. Eileen has asked a few other residents to partake in her project.
Lynn is making paper flowers which will be table center pieces.
Amy, our Co-ordinator tried her hand at pom, pom chicks with the assistance of Adele our fellow crafting resident.
Amy said she thoroughly enjoyed being taught a new skill.
A VR Flight
We asked Resident Lorna if there is anything she has always dreamt of doing but never got around to it. Lorna replied “Yes, I would love to go on a plane!” So the activities team got there thinking hats on to make this wish come true for Lorna. Activities coordinator Gemma managed to get her hands on a Virtual reality headset so that Lorna could experience the feeling of being on a plane but from the comfort of her room. Lorna said the experience was amazing and it felt so real. Glad we could make Lorna’s wish come true.
