Activities at Sycamore Grove Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Activities Co-ordinator

I first worked in the care sector in 2016. I have since gained a wealth of experience in dedicated dementia and residential activities, where I was an Activities Coordinator.

The largest and best part of my role was to ensure my residents were engaged in meaningful activities on a daily basis. I do this by taking into account their life history, their interests, likes and dislikes in order to promote their wellbeing currently and for the future. Liaising with family, friends and members of the community is also part of my role and it offers continuity to the lives of our residents. I love giving people a purpose and enabling our residents to do as much as possible of the things they love to do.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Sycamore Grove Care Home

Sycamore Grove Care Home Votes!

We all proudly participated in the general election today! Thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers, everyone had the chance to cast their vote comfortably and confidently.

Here's to making our voices heard and shaping a brighter future together!

Magical Afternoon at Sycamore Grove!

We were treated to a spellbinding performance yesterday by the incredible Marco the Magician! His dazzling tricks and witty humour left us all in awe and stitches.

Floating cards, disappearing handkerchiefs, and mind-reading feats had us scratching our heads and erupting in laughter. Marco's interactive performance had everyone engaged, from trying to guess his next move to volunteering as assistants (unwittingly, of course!).

The afternoon was filled with gasps of surprise, delighted shrieks, and plenty of applause. It's safe to say Marco's magic left us feeling a sense of wonder and a renewed appreciation for the power of illusion.

A huge thank you to Marco for sharing his magic with us! We can't wait for the next time!

Surprise Blooms Brighten Sycamore Grove!

Our entrance hall was recently transformed into a floral paradise! A generous mystery donor gifted us a stunning array of fresh flowers, leftover from a local wedding celebration.

These beautiful blooms brought a burst of colour and fragrance to our home, instantly lifting everyone's spirits. Our residents were especially delighted, their smiles as bright as the flowers themselves.

To the mystery donor(s), thank you! Your kindness extended the joy of a special day and brightened the lives of our residents and staff. It's a beautiful reminder that love and happiness can blossom in unexpected ways

Blooming Brilliant & Stone-tastic at Sycamore Grove!

At Sycamore Grove have been busy bees (or should we say, busy butterflies?) adding a touch of creativity to our beautiful raised beds!

We've been having a blast decorating stones with colourful designs and inspirational messages. These personalised creations now add a pop of personality to our flourishing flowers and vibrant vegetables.

It's been a wonderful activity that's sparked joy, encouraged teamwork, and allowed everyone to express their artistic flair. We can't wait to see our raised beds continue to bloom throughout the summer!

Retail Therapy Queens on the Move! ️

Our stylish residents at Sycamore Grove had a fantastic day at Sovereign Harbour retail park yesterday! With smiles as bright as their shopping bags, they browsed the shops and found some fabulous pieces.

From trendy finds at Next to amazing deals at Matalan, they conquered the stores in style! Maybe they even treated themselves to a well-deserved coffee and cake break – retail therapy is thirsty work, after all!

It's always a pleasure seeing these ladies enjoying themselves and expressing their unique personalities. Here's to many more shopping adventures!

Sea breezes & blooming gardens! ️

Sycamore Grove had a fantastic week exploring the Eastbourne coast and Upcountry, Stone Cross Garden Centre. They soaked up the sunshine on The Beach Deck, reminiscing about seaside trips of old, and enjoyed delicious coffee & cake along the way. The vibrant flowers and lush greenery at Upcountry provided a serene escape, topped off with a relaxing afternoon tea.
