Activities at Trinity Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

A Majestic Afternoon

Another one of our New Year's Wishes comes true.

This week we managed to grant our lovely residents New Year's wish, as Majestic Wine hosted us for an afternoon of wine tasting at their store.

Presented by the infinitely knowledgeable Gregory, our residents were treated to a selection of red & white wines, with some sherry thrown in for good measure. As our ladies went back to the bus, all remarked on what a wonderful time we had. Then capped off perfectly as we were gifted a special bottle of sherry to try when we got home!

International Women's Day

On international women's day here at Trinity Manor, we took some time to celebrate some of our ladies within the home.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. We are extremely proud of the fantastic women in our community as we shine the spotlight on them.

National Flapjack Day

Did you know that March 7th is National Flapjack Day?

Armed with this knowledge, keen resident bakers stepped up to whip up a batch for everyone to enjoy. With our Activities Coordinator Joe on hand to help, our young employee was treated to an education from our talented ladies as he ended up being schooled in premium flapjack baking.

The Great Flipping Competition!

Whilst the residents were tucking into their pancakes, Deputy Manager Paul hosted a fierce competition to see which member of staff was the ultimate pancake flipper!

With some interesting, and questionable, techniques on offer, only one could win the coveted 1st place trophy. As Community Care Leads, Sarah and Julie, battled it out, the initial favourite was new Head Chef Marcus as he flipped his way into the lead. Administration Manager Becky showed us its all in the wrists as she flipped her way to an impressive score of 21.

After a strong display, our housekeeping team accepted the challenge as Vicky stepped up to the plate, looking to prove herself as a first rate flipper in front of Head Housekeeper Steph.

Many entered, but only one could prevail. The 2023 Pancake Flipping Championship was won by our Head Housekeeper Steph Haycock

A big Thank you to Paul for brightening our day and to those who joined in with making Pancake Day a day to remember!

Pancake Day

Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, has crêped up on us again.

Shrove comes from the word 'Shrive', which in Christianity means confessing one's sins, and is the last day before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. A time when many people fast or give up something they love, Shrove was often the last opportunity for people to use their leftover eggs, milk and sugar before the items went off. Pancakes were one of the easiest ways to use up these ingredients before the fasting season began.

Let's just say we are always very happy to indulge in this tradition! With some opting for the traditional lemon juice and sugar, whilst other rogues opting for chocolate spread and strawberries, we all celebrated together over a scotch pancake.

Musical Masterpiece

Our residents were invited along to a lunchtime concert held by our lovely neighbours Sherborne Girls School.

In the wonderful Gransden Hall, we were treated to numbers like rhythmic clarinet and lyrical cello, and some brilliant singing thrown into the mix. We even got our fingers clicking to the Pink Panther theme. All performed by talented students, the occasion was nostalgic for one of our residents, whose daughter learnt to play and performed cello for the school.

Thank you for inviting us along!
