Activites at Westvale House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Aimee Dyas
Activities Co-Ordinator
Hi, I’m Aimee and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Westvale House.
My role is to support Residents well-being, to provide enriching and meaningful activities and promote independence and social engagement.
I joined the team in April 2025 and by far the best part of the role is getting to know our Residents and their families. They have many stories to share and understanding their individual needs enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities program that captures and includes everyone in the home.
Prior to joining Westvale I worked in Forensic Mental Health and prior as a Community Support Worker and feel that along with my NVQ Level 3 in Adult Social Care, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise not only to my role but to contribute to the Barchester whole home approach.
Outside of work, I enjoy regular trips to the cinema with my Fiancée, we adore our six cats and have plenty of cuddles and when time allows we get out and about for long walks.
Celebrating life at Westvale House Care Home
National picnic day
Our residents loved spending time sitting out in the garden having a picnic for National Picnic Day,
we even had our nails done in the sun!
Lots of laughs and chatting, reminiscing about past holidays and fun in the sun.
Westvale Mascot
Hi, I’m Barchy, and I am the Mascot here at Westvale House. My role is to Bring Smiles and Happiness to our residents and families, to promote independence and social engagement.
I joined the team in June 2025 and by far the best part of the role is getting to know our residents and their families.
Barchy has brought so many smiles to Westvale house already, and we look forward to many more to come.
Bollywood Beats Come to Westvale
Our lounge turned into a mini dancefloor as we welcomed a duo of Bollywood dancers to Westvale House.
The energy was infectious as everyone was immersed in the traditional dance and movement. There was toe-tapping, hand clapping and hip swaying - staff members were keen to give it a go too!
It wasn't just about dancing, it was about the smiles, connection and trying something new together.
Saxophone Sing-a-long
We were delighted to welcome Tina Wells Sax to Westvale House for an afternoon of musical entertainment. Residents and family members gathered in the lounge to enjoy a unique performance from Tina on her beautiful saxophone.
Residents were keen to get involved and passed the microphone around to join in with the popular tunes played and it was smiles all round as everyone soaked up the delightful sounds of the sax!
Come back soon Tina!
International Nurses Day
Residents and staff came together to raise a toast to all our amazing nurses on International Nurses Day.
Drinks were flowing as we enjoyed fruity cocktails to coincide with World Cocktail Day and in honour of the dedication, compassion and amazing work of our wonderful healthcare professionals.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all Nurses from everyone at Westvale House!
The Music Memory Cafe
Earlier this week we had our first visit from Mark and his The Music Memory Café.
We were all keen to welcome our new visitor and waited in anticipation for his arrival. In true Westvale style we gave him a warm welcome and everyone was keen to take part.
Mark brought along his guitar and sang a set of familiar tunes we were able to join in with and, just to make things more fun and light hearted we sported some interesting headwear.
It was smiles all round as we played balloon badminton to wind up the session and we built up an appetite ready for tea.
Thanks Mark, we look forward to welcoming you back to Westvale soon!
London Fashion Week
In recognition of London Fashion Week, Staff put their best foot forward and took to the Westvale runway to strut their stuff in uniquely chosen outfits.
It was a runway like no other, where elegance, comfort and practicality combines. Residents carefully chose what our team members wore and cheered them on as they paraded for all to see. Everyone enjoyed an entertaining and social afternoon and we all agreed that fashion is for everyone!
As the famous designer Kate Spade says "Playing dress-up begins at age five and never truly ends." - We can certainly vouch for that at Westvale!
Centurion Celebrations
Happy 100th Birthday to Eunice!
Over the last few days we have been celebrating Eunice’s 100th birthday and like the true queen she is she had two birthday celebrations.
On Sunday Eunice visited her local church for a service where she was presented with a birthday cake with her picture on.
When returning to Westvale she was joined by her beloved Guide and Brownie Leaders and friends that Eunice has known for many years when she was in fact a Brownie Leader herself and worked tirelessly in her local community.
Eunice and her friends reminisced about old times, made the Brownie promise and sang campfire songs - even a special Brownie themed cake was baked.
On Tuesday we celebrated in style with Eunice's family members and friends from Westvale. A beautiful buffet was made by our talented hospitality team and yes you guessed it another cake which was made by Dave one of our chefs.
Eunice was overwhelmed to receive over 100 cards from from all over the world as far as Australia!
Eunice would like to say a big THANK YOU for making her 100th birthday a truly remarkable experience.
The Look of Love
Residents at Westvale were in the mood for love as we played our romantic couples matching game.
The game involved pictures of famous people ranging from Elizabeth Taylor to Micky Mouse! The aim of the game was to match the pictures with their romantic significant other.
Our Residents had a lot of fun and were very knowledgeable about affairs of the heart
Memory games improve memory by actively engaging the brain in tasks that require recalling information.
