Activities at Westwood House Care Home

As Activity Coordinator at Westwood House I am fully committed to organising activities for all of the residents. This includes activities within the home such as reminiscence sessions, and planning events such as the Summer and Christmas parties. We have also provided some very successful trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and have monthly visits from entertainers and musicians. We are always encouraging local schools to get involved and have recently managed to get a local charity 'Spare tyre' working with us very successfully.

It is important to me that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Liz Wickers

Lifestyle Coordinator

My name is Liz and I am the lifestyle coordinator at Westwood House. I have always lived and worked in Southwark and Lambeth boroughs. I spent 25 years within the education sector before deciding to try new roles. As well as teaching I have also had the privilege of being a personal carer in Dementia. I am so happy that I have been welcomed into the Westwood House family where I can continue to grow and develop.

I aim to offer a range of varied and tailored activities and group sessions that are meaningful to each of them. I am thrilled to be supporting the team in delivering fun, engaging and interesting activities for our residents.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Life at Westwood House Care Home

Glitter Balls at the ready

What a wonderful afternoon at Westwood House, where Daniel came and entertained us with a spectacular Abba set followed by some wonderful disco classics.

The staff and residents had an absolute blast!

Natasha Lazovic 10-year service

We would like to congratulate our wonderful Managing Director, Natasha Lazovic, on her 10-year anniversary with Barchester Healthcare. Natasha had a huge surprise recently when Barchester’s CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, presented her with her 10 years’ service award and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Natasha joined Barchester in May 2014 as Regional Director leading 10 homes, which then doubled to 20 as Senior Regional Director, and now as MD she is in charge of more than 80 care homes across the South of England.

She leads us with amazing energy and a can-do attitude, she has also in recent months won the Businesswoman of the Year category in the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards 2023. There really is no stopping her!

Congratulations Natasha and thank you for everything you do to support us!

Dementia Action Week!

Kicking of the week with some gentle chair exercises and a singalong, followed by a chocolate filled afternoon. Cadbury UK are celebrating 200 years of tickling our taste buds with their wonderful delights so we will be reminiscing and enjoying an afternoon tea with some Cadbury chocolate treats and some delicious chocolate cakes, all whilst taking a virtual tour with Cadbury.

Fun in the Sun!

Made the most of the beautiful sunshine and spent the afternoon running away from our wonderful John. He enjoys watering the plants and keeping an eye on the garden as well as threatening us all with a good soaking.

The most simplest of days but such a giggle.

St. Georges Day Celebrations!

Things got off to roaring, if not a little noisy, start at Westwood House on St George's Day as we all got dressed up in our hats, flags and horns ready for us to start the celebration. We all had a great time singing along and having a boogie with Malinda.

Advice and Support Afternoon!

We spent a wonderful afternoon here at Westwood House gaining a deeper insight and understanding of Dementia. Although our staff are extremely knowledgeable, we believe that knowledge is key and we can never get enough.  We learnt about the complexities of the brain and what happens in the process of dementia.

Things change and evolve constantly and it was a privilege to have Martin from Alzheimer’s Society explain in depth, how to best support our residents who are living with dementia.

At Westwood House we strive to ensure that our residents with Dementia are LIVING (not suffering) with Dementia, by supporting them to continue to live happy and enriched lives.

We all agreed that the benefit of Martins knowledge will enhance the personalised care that we offer to all our residents.
