Activites at Westwood House Care Home
As Activity Coordinator at Westwood House I am fully committed to organising activities for all of the residents. This includes activities within the home such as reminiscence sessions, and planning events such as the Summer and Christmas parties. We have also provided some very successful trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and have monthly visits from entertainers and musicians. We are always encouraging local schools to get involved and have recently managed to get a local charity 'Spare tyre' working with us very successfully.
It is important to me that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Celebrating life at Westwood House Care Home

CHEESETASTIC
The Residents and staff had a wonderful afternoon sampling cheeses and pairing with various wines. We, of course, ate far too much but we had so much fun. The chilly cheese went down a storm.

Westwood keeps on smiling!
Being entertained by the wonderful Peter always keeps us smiling here at Westwood House.
Our residents, their loved ones and the staff had a fantastic morning singing and dancing with plenty of giggles.

Trip to Brighton
Some of the staff and residents took a day trip to Brighton. What a scorcher of a day; plenty of sunshine, wonderful food and fantastic company.
Fish and chips at the prom, followed by ice cream and shopping. Oh! How we love the summer days!

Enjoying the Entertainment!
Always fun being entertained by Peter! The residents and staff love having peter come to sing for us and we can’t help but sing along and have a real good boogie.
Lots of Fun!
Lots of Singing!
Lots of Laughter!
Always the best times.

Origami Worksho[
Thanks to Eric and Leslie for hosting an Origami workshop for us here at Westwood House.
We were quite unsure of ourselves to begin, however, we all ended up creating some fantastic animals. We all agreed it was a super afternoon and have enjoyed learning a new skill.

The Strummers
Always a pleasure to spend the afternoon being entertained by the fantastic ‘Strummers’, a local group who entertain many care homes around the borough.
They always get us all singing and dancing, and we always look forward to their visits.

Owl Adventures!
As part of National Bird Day, the residents at Westwood House enjoyed a visit from some owls and a hawk.
We had the chance to stroke and hold these magnificent creatures and watch them in flight.
Celebrating and understanding more about our wonderful wildlife made for a great afternoon.

EnabLE!
Residents, staff and relatives joined us in celebrating all the work that Team Westwood have put in to ensure a smooth transition, and that we are ready for our new digital reports and document system.
From today, you will see the staff with handsets that they will use to report and document all the health, care and support given to our residents. Please feel free to ask us if you would like more information about ‘Enable’ and how this will continue to support us in delivering the best care for your loved one.

Magic Table Fun!
At Westwood house, we are so fortunate to have a Magic Table which brings so much joy to the residents.
The Magic table is a wonderful sensory resource that enables our residents, particularly those living with Dementia, to play games alone or with a group.
Today we discovered many different varieties of flowers and had a quick game of tennis.
