Activities at White Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Shayla Sharmeen
Hi my name is Shayla and I'm the activities coordinator here at White Lodge.
Prior to taking the position, I joined White Lodge as care assistant in 2022 and loved every minute of my role. My passion is very much in supporting the day to day lives of the people we care for, it is important to me that our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.
Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining White Lodge that will make for an enriched activities program to be developed, one that keeps them at the heart of the local community. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Attending Civic Service in RWB
Residents at white lodge care home were delighted to be able to sing and perform as a part of the dementia choir for the mayor's civic service arranged by Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council yesterday.
It was wonderful for the residents to meet so many people from the community. One of our residents Molly, ex-Parish Councillor was amazed to meet and greet her ex colleagues at the service. She said it was a well organised and wonderful service. I enjoyed every bit of it.
Again we are a proud member of the choir and can't thank enough Lisa Williams for inviting us for the service.

The Mobile Library
The residents at white lodge visited the mobile library to choose their favourite. On World mental health day they wanted to treat themselves with books and celebrate mental health.
Reading for just 10 minutes a day can have astonishing benefits. Not only is it a brilliant way to relax and unwind, reading can also help boost our mood, provide an escape from the pressures of life and even reduce stress levels.
Seniors who read often enjoy much more than just a good story. Scientific studies have found many benefits of reading for older adults. These include everything from reducing stress and enhancing sleep to improving memory circuits, sharpening decision-making.

Apple Bobbing with fishing net
The residents at white lodge played apple bobbing but with a finishing net! It was very fun playing and also fun watching because everybody was counting the apples together. We all had a laugh in the afternoon.

Mini Bus trip to the local garden centre
The residents at white lodge been out to the garden centre where they looked into various plants and the Christmas decorations.
After the walk around we even sat down for a tea and a cake! What a lovely afternoon it was though it was pouring in the end!

Halloween cupcake decorating
Residents at white lodge got in the Halloween spirit, decorating some lovely homemade cupcakes with some spooky colours and toppings. Residents were able to choose their own colours and decorations to pop onto their cakes, from bits of edible glitter, to dark chocolate eyes, spooky spiders.
Afterwards, the residents, relatives and staff at white lodge all enjoyed sampling the cakes together with refreshments, while reminiscing together about how Halloween had changed over the years.
