Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Knit and natter today was in the glorious sunshine, the ladies were knitting and pom pom making whilst sat chatting between listening to the bird song. On the subject of birds we are keeping a close eye on White Lodge's newest residents and our babies have opened their eyes. We are so lucky to be located surrounded by such wonders of nature.

White Lodge’s resident of the day wanted a change of scenery, so we had a little stroll down the lane. It was very peaceful listening to the birds in fine tune, we even got to see two horses and some calves in the field. Such moments are very special, we do all we can to meet individual wishes and we love nothing more than seeing our residents happy.

We enjoyed nature watching today at Barchester White Lodge.  We had stored some bird boxes in our greenhouse,  ready to hang them in the grounds, when a Robin decided to lay her eggs in one of them.

What a privilege to see these fledglings waiting for their mum to bring them some nice juicy worms!  We had to be quick so we didn't disturb them, but there is a short video as well on the White Lodge Facebook page.

Our busy residents and staff at Barchester White Lodge, have started planting the Sensory Garden. Rain slowed down the start of the planting program (but not the weeds!), however we're catching up now. As soon as we see the sun we head outside to plant a few trays - it's going to look beautiful when everything is in bloom.

We want to send our huge thanks to families and local neighbours who have so generously brought in flowers and seedlings to add to our new garden. Here's a little preview of where we are right now - more updates to follow.

A group of White Lodge residents were delighted to spend time creating a beautiful floral masterpiece to enter the Blooming Barchester competition in partnership with Blooming Haus following their amazing virtual flower arranging masterclass.

The residents all greatly enjoyed watching the experts and then working on the arrangement applying the tips and ideas learnt during the class to make a colourful floral display which is for all to enjoy in White Lodge's reception area.

Did someone say "Hen Party"? Our lovely hair Stylist Jenny, at Barchester White Lodge, is getting married this weekend and we surprised her with a party to celebrate her upcoming wedding. Jenny has been organising her special day during a challenging time through lockdown and no doubt this has given her many worried moments. But she's done it and it will be an amazing day!!
