Activities at Wilsmere House Care Home
Most days, you will find our Activities Coordinators doing a range of different activities with residents, whether that be in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis. It is important that our activities team are passionate about the social events that we provide, and are dedicated to delivering an activities programme that reflect the interests and capabilities of those we support, so that life at Wilsmere House is full of fun.

Life at Wilsmere House Care Home
EnabLE is live at Wilsmere House
Staff were joined by Mike O'Reilly, General Counsel and Director of Quality, Risk and Compliance, Gemma PitmanMcGrath, National Clinical E-Care Implementer and Marcin Michalczewski, Implementation Lead-eCare to celebrate the launch of our new digital system Enable.
We are also happy to announce that Enable is live in half of our Barchester Homes.
Well done to all of our transposers who did a great job and managed to meet the deadline for the launch of Enable. It was hard work and we are excited for this new chapter of electronic care planning which will ensure all care documentation and life enrichment activities are recorded digitally on tailor made handsets.
High quality, person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do at Barchester, and everyone deserves the best care possible.
This is where EnabLE (our new digital care system) comes in. It will help us plan, record, and co-ordinate person-centred care in the moment, using hand-held devices. Following our whole home approach, anyone who works within the home will be using EnabLE to record the important life enriching moments our residents truly value.
Diwali Celebrations
Diwali is known as the 'festival of lights' and houses, shops and public places are decorated with small oil lamps called 'diyas'.
We decorated some areas of our home, tasted a selection of homemade Indian dishes and listened to traditional music.
Some of our residents and staff dressed up for the occasion and we all had a wonderful time celebrating the day.
Happy 106th Birthday Mrs Martin!
It is not everyday we get to celebrate someone's 106th birthday!
So we made sure we celebrated in style.
Mrs Martin also received a card from the King wishing her Happy birthday.
Music, delicious cake and dancing were in order for the afternoon!
Happy Halloween
Here at Wilsmere House we got into the spooky Halloween spirit of things by creating an Autumnal display with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.
We hosted a fun-filled party in the afternoon with delicious Halloween inspired treats and music.
Our Deputy Manager, Annette also decorated the wellbeing trolley and went around to all staff members for a Treat or Treat.
We all had a spooktacular time.
Wilmere's got Talent!
Here at Wilsmere, we held our very own Talent Show. We had so much fun planning and organizing this show for all our staff and residents.
Thank you to all our participants and congratulations to Melisa Findlay who won 1st place, Raluca Rosculet who won 2nd place and Olasupo Komolafe a great 3rd place.
A huge thank you to our Maintenance team who built the stage specifically for the event, massive thanks to our Chef and Kitchen team for the delicious Barbecue. The delicious food kept us all full whilst waiting for our Judges, Regional Director-Wayne Hughes, General Manager-Lili Cocue and our Resident ambassador-John Bakerto to make their decision.
Last but not least, thank you to our Clinical Deputy Manager, Laxmi Gurung who drove the idea for months encouraging our colleagues to participate and to our Life enrichment trainer, and Ben, for supporting us through the whole process.
Award Nomination
Here at Wilsmere, we have been celebrating success. We would like to give a massive congratulations to our lovely nurse Carina who has been shortlisted as a finalist at the National Care Awards 2024 for Nurse of the Year!
Carina joined Wilsmere House in 2013 and has since become unit manager of our Memory Lane community and one of our Dementia Champions. We want to thank Carina for her hard work and the care she delivers to our residents.
We are hugely proud of her achievements and will be rooting for her at the awards on 29th November!
