Activities at Wilsmere House Care Home
Most days, you will find our Activities Coordinators doing a range of different activities with residents, whether that be in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis. It is important that our activities team are passionate about the social events that we provide, and are dedicated to delivering an activities programme that reflect the interests and capabilities of those we support, so that life at Wilsmere House is full of fun.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Wilsmere House Care Home
Bingo, Flower Arrangement, and Community Engagement!
Over the Christmas period, we thoroughly enjoyed a variety of activities, including flower arranging and bingo!
Residents joined in for Christmas flower arranging with staff and our activity team. Christmas songs were playing in the background, and we reminisced about favourite Christmas traditions.
Residents also enjoyed an afternoon playing Bingo and won some Christmas-themed prizes. There was lots of fun and laughter whilst enjoying a homemade slice of cake and a cup of coffee.
Deputy Manager Annette and Physiotherapist Raluca also visited Enderley Road Medical Centre. They popped into the Regional Hyper Acute Unit and the Discharge Support Team at Northwick Park Hospital, delivering Christmas gifts.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Wilsmere House Care Centre!
Our residents love going out on our Mini bus, so last week we had the chance to enjoy a trip out to see the Peter Pan pantomime!
It was a wonderful way to end the year and retain some for the festive excitement!
Everybody loved every moment of this year's panto!
Christmas Party
We were rockin' around the Christmas tree at Wilsmere House with our residents' Christmas party!
Residents and staff got into the Christmas spirit, enjoying a delicious spread of food and drink served by our kitchen team, whilst listening to festive tunes!
We adorned Christmas jumpers and celebrated in our decked out home!
National Care Awards
Wilsmere House was represented at the National Care Awards on Friday night by our Memory Lane, Unit Manager Carina Pereira, who was nominated for the Registered Nurse of the Year award at the prestigious National Care Awards!
Carina has been working at Wilsmere House care home for just over 10 years. She is an experienced Registered Nurse who started working as a Senior Care Assistant and worked her way up to the Unit Manager position.
Carina took all the learning opportunities, clinical and especially in dementia care, for which she developed a passion.
Carina leads a team of 17 carers and over 5 nurses, making sure that the needs of the 20 residents diagnosed with Dementia living in our Memory Lane Community called Whitegate Community are met.
Carina is the soul of the community. She is loved by our residents and really appreciated by the families and staff. She is always looking forward to improving the lives of the residents in the home, promoting choice and independence and making sure the staff are delivering the best quality of person-centred care to our residents.
We are proud to announce that Carina reached the national finals. Her commitment to excellence truly shone through, and this achievement is a testament to her outstanding contributions to our care home.
Congratulations, Carina. Wilsmere is proud!
Staff Appreciation
Our colleagues threw a surprise baby shower for our beloved Unit Manager, Carina.
Congratulations Carina, we can’t wait to meet your baby girl!
We then celebrated our Employee of the month, Moshmiben. Moshmiben recently received her NMC pin and is now working as our Registered Nurse.
She has been a great support during the enrolment of the new Enable system, well-deserved Moshmi.
EnabLE is live at Wilsmere House
Staff were joined by Mike O'Reilly, General Counsel and Director of Quality, Risk and Compliance, Gemma PitmanMcGrath, National Clinical E-Care Implementer and Marcin Michalczewski, Implementation Lead-eCare to celebrate the launch of our new digital system Enable.
We are also happy to announce that Enable is live in half of our Barchester Homes.
Well done to all of our transposers who did a great job and managed to meet the deadline for the launch of Enable. It was hard work and we are excited for this new chapter of electronic care planning which will ensure all care documentation and life enrichment activities are recorded digitally on tailor made handsets.
High quality, person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do at Barchester, and everyone deserves the best care possible.
This is where EnabLE (our new digital care system) comes in. It will help us plan, record, and co-ordinate person-centred care in the moment, using hand-held devices. Following our whole home approach, anyone who works within the home will be using EnabLE to record the important life enriching moments our residents truly value.
