Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Senior Activity Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Christmas Party Festivities

Christmas here at Wimborne means it's time to pop some prosecco and have a party.

It is important for all our residents to be able to invite all their friends and family to celebrate with them like they would in their own home.

We were a full house here in our dining room with family, friends, staff and residents enjoying a Christmas quiz, jumper competition and carols performed by the Wonderful Wimborne Staff.

Memory Choir Get Together

We have been part of the infamous ‘Memory Choir’ for over a year now and is a highlight of the month when we do our practice every month.

Everyone loves being part of a choir that makes a difference. Every year, all the choirs from around the south come together to bring some yuletide spirit to the local community.

We enjoyed singing all our favourite tunes all together, then enjoying mulled wine, minced pies and handmade sandwiches.

Church Choir Visit

The church has always been a big part of life here at Wimborne and even more important over the Christmas period.

We were honoured to have the church choir visiting us with classic hymns to sing to and, of course, joined in a service of prayer. The choir from our local church are so lovely and friendly.

Our residents here not only enjoy their performances but also having a social afternoon with everyone, which included tea and homemade cake that got us into the yuletide spirit.

Bob's 100th Birthday!

We are so excited to announce another milestone here at Wimborne, our amazing Bob has just celebrated his 100th birthday and he’s still as happy as ever!  We celebrated by heading out on the mini bus to a local garden centre to where he was stopped by so many people who wanted to to be wish him a happy birthday, we also met up with his lovely family before heading back home to enjoy a special homemade cake from our head chef.  Bob is an amazing person who has lived such a full and interesting life and we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to celebrate this special day with him. Happy Birthday Bob we all hope to look this good at 100!

Remembering Those Who Fought...

We celebrated and marked Remembrance Day at Wimborne, with a trip to Fort Nelson Royal Armouries Museum. Our residents were part of talk on the history of the day and how it changed the landscape.

We then had the pleasure of watching a parade and all of our residents were front row so they had the best seats!
