Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Zoe Freeman
I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home
End of Summer Party
Being a care home right by the seaside as everyone can imagine we all love Summer! No one here is Wimborne is ready for the summer to end so we had one last celebration to celebrate with our friends and family. Even though we couldn’t get outside on this day we brought the sunshine in with colourful decorations and enjoyed an afternoon BBQ with homemade burgers and an ice cream sundae. We then enjoyed dancing and singing with our residents favourite singer Nathalie with our friends and family to end the summer and bring in the autumn season.
Merchant Navy Marine engineer gets back at sea!
Tim has been living at home for over a year and has always reminisced over his time in the merchant navy. Tim’s farther was in the navy during WW2 and he wanted to follow in his footsteps. Tim started off his career as an apprentice for Shell on Tankers before joining the Merchant Navy and worked his way to an engineer on board. He travelled the world in his career and lived in many different places from Scotland to New Zealand and most recently has a small yacht sailing just of the coast here in emsworth. As we can all see from his history he was born to be on the water so we wanted to make sure he got back out to sea. Tim and the team headed to the beautiful seaside area of Hythe to join a boat trip around Southampton harbour From the minute we stepped on board the crew were talking to Tim in mariners slang which he loved from talking about the sea current to the direction of travel. Tim was at the helm in the captains seat for the journey and took the lead in our voyage around the solent. The smile and concentration of Tim throughout was remacable to see and hearing even more stories about his time at sea made everyone smile you can tel this is Tim’s happy place.
Merchant Tim!
This week our residents headed to the beautiful seaside area of Hythe to join a boat trip around Southampton harbour.
From the minute we stepped on board the crew were talking to our resident Tim in mariners slang which he loved, from talking about the sea current right through to the direction of travel.
Tim was at the helm in the Captains seat for the journey and took the lead in our voyage around the Solent. The smile and concentration of Tim throughout was remarkable to see and hearing even more stories about his time at sea made everyone smile.
You can tell this is Tim’s happy place, Ahoy Captain Tim!
A day out at Dobbies
This week, we took some of our residents out to our local garden centre to look at this seasons plants and flowers.
Our residents absolutely love Dobbies, so much colour and variety.
We even had to time to stop and smell some of the plants and get some inspiration for next season in our gardens!
Proud Sunflower Winner!
Here at Wimborne, we set our team and residents a competition of growing the largest and tallest Sunflower.
We knew that with a little sunshine, a speckle of rain and some good luck, we would grow some amazing sunflowers and there was a very clear winner.
Our wonderful resident Joy came in first place with her Sunflower that stood the tallest over every other!
Congrats to Joy and well done to all of our residents and team at Wimborne for helping plant some beautiful sunflowers.
Sunflower Island
This week some of our residents took a trip to Sam's Sunflowers on the island.
People come from far and wide to visit this famous area where there are beautiful sunflowers and wild flowers to admire.
Our residents got to pick the best sunflowers of the season to bring back to our home, how wonderful!
