Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home
Wimborne’s Community Rainbow Garden Project
After residents at Wimborne received lovely rainbow letters and pictures to let them know that whilst in lockdown they had not been forgotten they decided they would like to respond and join in with Hayling’s Community project. This involved each week creating a specific item to add to our garden.
Residents first started with painting rainbows and writing happy rainbow verses. Secondly, they cut and painted suns which were placed in the conservatory windows to spread happiness and sunshine.
On the third week rabbits were made from recycled wood and residents sat in the sunshine one afternoon painting on their faces. These were all then put out in an Easter display. Residents enjoyed the art & craft and the waves from passers-by.
Folk Active
This is a new activity here at Wimborne. Our 1st session involved residents and staff doing lots of dancing, singing and playing specially designed wooden spoons with much enjoyment.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Scottish music played and were amazed at the sword dancing performance. It was especially enjoyed and a great surprise for one of our residents who is Scottish and was celebrating his birthday. At the end of the session everyone was given a posy of heather to take away.
Wimborne Celebrates Valentine’s Day
The lead up to Valentine’s Day was busy with craft items being made including red woollen hearts to hang on our themed events tree.
The residents participated in a valentine themed quiz and musical reminiscing and then a fun game of ping ball where they won prizes and made wishes on golden stars
This was followed by a lovely social evening with a selection of cheese & biscuits along with a glass of fizz.
Afternoon Tea
Here at Wimborne we held the first of our monthly tea parties where the Hayling community is invited to join us in our conservatory. We put out our best chins and our chef made some delicious scones with jam and cream, which were enjoyed by everyone.
Beauty and the Beast Pantomime
Here at Wimborne on Saturday evening we all enjoyed the pantomime Beauty and the Beast. The performers interacted with our residents by giving light hand held instruments and parts of the songs in which to play them. Everyone enjoyed the banter from the performers and the amazing costumes.
Christmas Crafts
Wimborne residents enjoyed an afternoon of producing beautiful center pieces for their dining tables for the festive season. Great enjoyment was had in creating them and also having others admire them over the Christmas period.
