Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Senior Activity Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home

Poppies of Remembrance

Residents made paper and sun catcher poppies, which were displayed on our event tree, dining room archway and windows. Residents and staff joined together a for two minute silence and watched a member of staff lower the flag.

Going Retro

Staff and residents decided to celebrate the '70s by dressing up in costumes and playing retro games, such as Simon, Operation, Ker-Plunk and Buckaroo. There was a '70s-themed karaoke session with prizes awarded for the best singers and costumes.

Garden Ramble

Residents decided to put on their coats and enjoy a beautiful autumn sun ramble around Wimborne’s garden. All had great fun collecting fir cones, acorns, twigs and different leaves of all shapes and colours. They decided it would be nice to make a small autumn display with the colours of autumn.

Oktoberfest

Residents enjoyed German beer and wine tasting, along with some stolen Lebkuchen. There was music and dancing and a very interesting talk given by our German employee, Felicitas, about Oktoberfest and German customs.

Tea Party

Due to the current situation. we were unable to hold are yearly Macmillan Coffee Morning, which enabled us to invite the local community to enjoy coffee and cake with our residents.

We therefore decided to honor the good work of the Macmillan nurses by laying the tables with our best china and enjoying a lovely cup of tea with a slice or two of homemade cake.

Wimborne Triathlon

Residents competed against each other with a great game of volleyball in the courtyard. They they tried their hands at some upper arm endurance by winding up the duster.

The day’s triathlon ended in a game of precision, which involved aiming to get the highest amount of points throwing beanbags at targets.

Great fun and banter was had between the competitors, with winners all receiving a rosette.
