Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Lead Activities Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Sea Shanty Performance

The famous Hayling Island sea shanty group came to Wimborne to perform for our residents. Many of them enjoyed singing along with these pirates and stamping their feet along with the music. Everyone enjoyed talking to the group after learning about how they got into such a unique group and loved hearing all their unique songs and already can’t wait for them to visit again.

New Year’s Celebrations

We brought in the new year with a party filled with dancing, singing, great food and some bubbles. We started the day sharing out highlights of the year we have just had and any goals for the future, many residents aims were just to “keep going”. As we danced the night away we watched firework displays from around the world and reminisced over our favourite new year party’s.

Pebble beach trip

When the sun is shining we are heading out so this time we took a trip to pebble café on the beach. We got all cosy with our warmest coats ready for the sea breeze and enjoy that ocean smell. We all enjoyed velvety smooth hot chocolate from our local café as we sat and shared out beach side stories, many about how the island has changed over the years.

Yule Tide Singing Celebrations

Wimborne was joined by the wonderful Alice from Applewood entertainment who took us through joyful Christmas singing and music fun. All the favourite songs were sung and all the staff family and friends were up dancing with our residents. There was so many smiles and lots of laughter could be heard throughout the home all day really bringing home that this is the most wonderful time of the year.

Festive Cake Making

We joined in the Barchester Christmas cake making competition with our head chef Hayden leading the way with our tree design and our residents hand rolling the red berries for the tree. With the green pouring glaze and our sparkly star donning the top of the tree it really brought our cake to life and everyone enjoyed eating it even more with a glass of mulled wine or two and sharing our Christmas memories.
