Activities at Wood Grange Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.

My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.

I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Morris Dancers Visit Wood Grange

Residents and guests at Wood Grange care home in Bourne enjoyed a night of grins with a live dance performance that took place at the home. Local Bourne Borderers performed their Morris Dancing routines along with live music played on their accordions and flutes.

The hospitality team at the home also provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for guests to enjoy during the show.

General Manager, Katya said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day dancing along with the wonderful performers. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Wood Grange as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”

Come sing!

Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy.

Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles.

Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

105th Birthday Celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Wood Grange Care Home, as one of its residents reaches her 105th birthday in style on the 2nd of April.

Ethel was joined by staff, relatives, friends for a celebration at the home and guests enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Radovan. Ethel also received a card from the King and local MP Gareth Davies. Ethel served in the RAF many years ago where she made friends for life, her colleagues, friends and family always called her ‘aunt happy’ because she was always smiling.

Wood Grange Care Home had asked the local community and businesses in the area to send a card for Ethel’s big 105th , in total Ethel received 65 cards one coming from as far as Scotland. Ethel and the home would like to especially thank Bourne Westfield Primary Academy, Sue Hutchinson Age UK, Paint a Pot Place, Card Factory Bourne, Rosedale Property Agents, and The Sweet Shop who all kindly sent cards. Ethel was also visited by Dr Pears and Denika Wilmot from Hereward practice as they came to celebrate their eldest patient’s birthday.

Harrogate Chocolate Factory

We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.

Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.

The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.
