Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home
Blooms of Bourne
We received some lovely flowers from Blooms of Bourne. Residents made individual small plant pots up and then made one hanging basket out of them, which looked lovely hanging in the unit. It really cheered the place up with lots of lovely colours.
National Dog Day
We had a lovely working dog in to celebrate National Dog Day. Tally the dog showed us some of her lovely working tricks and showed us what training she had to go through to become a working dog. This included finding the cheese, which all the residents found amazing. They then got to ask as many questions as they liked which most of the residents enjoyed as they learnt a lot more about a working dog’s life.
Friendship Day
Residents made lots of bright cheerful cards to send to our other homes to celebrate Friendship Day!
A Furry Friend
To celebrate Beatrix Potter's birthday, a staff members brought one of her rabbits in for a visit. Residents loved stroking him and watching him play in his pen. While the rabbit was resting, we read some of her stories.
The NHS Turns 72
The residents made a lovely banner for the NHS' birthday. They did this by painting their hands then printing it onto paper or drawing round their hand on to coloured card. They were so pleased with the banner and wanted it hung so they could all see it.
Light Exercise
Residents enjoyed light exercise with large balloons. We did this to music and the residents found this a lot of fun due to the balloons not always doing as they wanted them to do.
