Activities at Wykeham House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Rachel Stevens
I joined Wykeham House in October 2022 but I have worked doing activities in care homes since I left College, I began volunteering in a local home when I was 15 years old and then took on my first job in a care home when I was 18. I have enjoyed extending my knowledge to improve my work and have a Level 2 in Dementia Awareness, Domestic Abuse Awareness and Mental Health Awareness. I have also attended courses on End-Of-Life Activities as well as Dementia focused Activities. I love what I do and for me it is important that every day is a new day for our residents with new opportunities and a smiling face to come with it.

Life at Wykeham House Care Home
Gifts for the Community
Our teams here at Wykeham House have been assisting our residents to decorate cake boxes to fill with cakes that are being delivered back into our community. Our first stop is some local assisted living properties then onto the foodbanks. Obviously some of our residents have had to test these cakes, they were in agreement that the cakes are yummy. A great treat to go out into the community.
World Chocolate Day
Residents enjoyed the delicious chocolate mousse made by our talented chefs. Everyone had some chocolates from around the world and some even tried chocolate wine that Julia our general manager brought in to try.
Excercising through
Our resident Stevie enjoying a exercise classes with Maria our activities lady. Through out lockdown, the wellbeing of our residents has been enhanced by Maria's regular activities classes at Wykeham House. Thank you Maria.
Social distancing family reunions.
Today, after twelve long weeks we started our social distancing, garden visit reunions. It was lovely. Many more to come.
Enjoying the Queens delicious birthday cake
The birthday cake looked stunning, but of course, like all good cakes it had to be cut, eaten and enjoyed. Thank you Rob and Ana for the cake.
A cake fit for the Queen
Of course, our dynamic duo Rob and Ana produced a fabulous cake for the Queens Birthday Celebrations. I hear that it was delicious.
