2019 Dementia Care Champion
Tabitha MacKenzie - Windermere House
Tabitha MacKenzie, Unit Manager at Windermere House, took home the National crown for Dementia Care Champion of the year.
It was a big night for the team at Windermere, who were nominated for 6 different awards; including Maintenance Manager of the year for Bob Dennis, Carer of the year for Tetyana Kutz and Sherron Bostan; Customer Service Champion of the Year for Katie Dennis, and Sally Mowfoth, the Hospital Director was also a finalist for Hospital Director of the Year.
Caroline Baker, Director of Dementia at Barchester, and a judge for the Dementia Care Champion category described Tabitha as “Tabitha was nominated by a colleague who said that she made a difference every day with her knowledge, passion and enthusiasm. Tabitha implemented many different ideas about improving the quality of care for the patients she cares for. Her focus was all around inclusion and making sure that the patients were included in everything, not only to enable them to feel independent and purposeful, but also so that they were not inadvertently excluded by others. We were really impressed with Tabitha’s initiative and kindness, and very proud to present her this award.”
