Seniors 'struggling with rising inflation'

Older people looking to find a care home may be finding it difficult to deal with inflation, it has been suggested.

Many pensioners will not have saved enough money to live comfortably during a time with low interest rates and an increasing life expectancy, Robin Ellison, partner at law firm Pinsent Masons has warned.

"Pensioners are now being forced to struggle with a problem which many of them - especially the younger ones - have not had to face for many years, that is inflation," said the expert.

Mr Ellison explained that as a result, many older people will now be "living very limited lives".

This follows a study by Standard Life which showed that many Brits are still making an effort to save, despite the adverse financial climate.

Two-fifths of Brits reported that they saved the same amount of money or more within the last year as they did in the same time frame the previous year.
