Should Parkinson's patients have more control?

Should Parkinson's patients have more control?

Parkinson's UK is asking for those with the disease to come forward with their views about NHS information and choice.

"Where do you get most of your information about Parkinson's from? Would you like to have more information about the professionals who look after you?" it asks.

Other subject areas include whether patients think it would help if they could see their medical records and what would help improve choices about treatment and home care.

This comes as the government considers how the release of more medical information and choice could improve social care and the NHS in England.

Its Information Revolution Consultation is aiming to give patients more choice and control over how they are treated.

Clare Moonan, health policy and campaigns manager of Parkinson's UK comments: "We know from anecdotal evidence that many people with Parkinson's feel that they do not have easy access to enough quality information about their condition and the choices of care available to them."

The survey can be filled in online at www.Parkinsons.org.uk before January 4th 2011.
